Just picked up an old Marlin in 32 Special. Serial is E30XXX, any idea of approximate age. It seems all original, no extra holes and has a Marbles rear sight. Original swivels and nice old sling. Wood is all original. Receiver was either case hardened or bluing has worn off. Barrel looks clean and has the full length magazine. Action is just slicker than anything I have ever levered before.
Was $200 with plenty of ammo a decent deal?

Google says 1948. I really know nothing about these and thought with the ammo it was a pretty good deal. Be fun to shoot it some.

Yes, 1948. Start of the Model 336. I have my father's 336 RC in 32 Special in the safe. It is a 1951 prefix H.

Got to shoot that rig on Friday some. I must say there is a certain cool factor with the lever guns that I had forgotten. The 17 yr old had never fired one. So we burned up a bit of ammo and the old rig shoots just fine. Got the sights lined up and may have to use it on something yet this year.
Hate to see those used Marlins now as I may want another one.
