Mike, The rifles I have and have seen used the Savage loops. Some replaced the front forearm screw and some were attached behind the forearm screw.

Interesting that they were not offering a scope and mount to go with it. It has been stated that the roll engraved rifles were made for a big retail distributor. I had forgotten that Speigel's was part of that group. 1941 is late for the SS rifles. I wonder if they were also listed 1937-1940? Anyone with access to earlier catalogs? It is possible that these 1941 rifles were made up using receivers from an earlier period (lower serial). Since the log books don't have information on these we will probably never know. The clip magazine Stevens is interesting. I don't think I have seen a pre-war stock like that on a Stevens/Savage .22. If it had been walnut vs a hardwood stock it would be a real nice rifle to own. This is a great piece of information! Thanks again for posting.

Not sure of the years off the top of my pointy little head. I'll see what I can find. If I don't post then I haven't found anything. If I do find something I'll have to find someone with a scanner. Mine went ten toes up a while back.

Scope mounts are a mystery but I would guess they were the Lyman target blocks.

I couldn't remember the name! Finally found a copy of the picture I had saved, then was able to search and find it. I think Don may have been the original one to identify the holes, but we didn't believe him?

Someone also ended up with a copy of the brochure showing the mount. IIRC it was Don but I could well be wrong. Whom ever it was made some copies and sent them to those that asked. Sure I've got one kicking around here if I could only find it.

I had the original B&M brochure, and I sent copies to half a dozen folks here. I later sold the original on eBay.

Belding and mull mounts where a guess that was made before this 1938 catalog was found. I suspect that the mounts where Mossberg style, to go with the Mossberg scope that was offered with the gun.

Gary, the holes on that scope doesn't match where the holes are on the barrel of the Spiegel EG's.

I believe we've seen one with the nameplate affixed to the rear of the forearm. I don't recall seeing one with it on the side of the gun.
