Forest service has those scattered all over the state for around $30.00 a night. I certainly don't dare to make an offer after the last love note you sent me<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Uh...heh...heh... You mean you didn't appreciate my colorful reply to the PM that a certain someone sent me about their lingual talents???? HoundGirl

The certain someone got one brief, but descriptive, reply. If I recall, he went by the name "Meat"....and I delighted in the pleasure of giving him a more fitting name.....

The best stuff I've found for my red cedar deck is made by Olympic. It's a premium deck stain (tinted or clear) with a 2-yr warranty. It definately lasts 2+ years and that's saying something. Most of the crap with a 1 yr warranty won't even last that.

Depends on how much you want to spend and how long you want it to last.
For real serious money but a permanent solution, you can use a penatrating epoxy.
Do a Gooogle search for Smith's penetrating epoxy. Otherwise known as CPES.
It's widely used in the wood boat world and I have used it also.
Hard to tell if it's worth it for a deck though....

I'm not a carpender, just a Bitch-Boy who worked for a very good carpender. I can't take any credit for that house.......... Can't take any credit for those spelling lessons either! CC

David,
Looking at the aerial pic it appears that you are close to the mouth of a creek, Eh? The orientation of the boat and the current flow seem too much for a tidal influence.
Great shots.
best, bhtr

Actually, it's tide. If you imagine a big cove, with the open end choked by an island...all the current passes through a channel on each side of the island, one of which is right in front of the house.
At tide change, the water boils through like rapids...looks like a river from the air.
The photo above was taken near the peak of high tide, so the water movement was fairly minimal, comparatively.

Sir, I have been following this thread from the begining and have really enjoyed it. I must say that I am insanely jealous and the pictures are great. What does a place like that cost land and all if you dont mind saying? PM me if you would prefer.
