Very nice, and then some.

Side note, are you using photobucket for your pics? I'm having trouble getting into it.

Thx

Funny, I'm the opposite. I love the grey... all the splatter and fern jobs, not so much.

Differences make the world go round...

I think the dark grey that they sometimes have looks decent; the light faded gray not so much.

I noticed that there are a lot more picture of Kimbers with dead critters then when we did this same thread with winnies and remmies.

Okay, here's my little piece of "Yonkers Candy"

Its the 308 I ended up with after returning two 7-08s for "schitzengroupin." Pretty nice piece of walnut for a production gun. It's easy to carry and has a really nice trigger, a sweet little rifle all around. Groups three of its favorite handloads right at an inch. My youngest son has dibs on this one. He has good taste. But then, the rifles my other family members called dibs on include a Winchester M70 Classic Compact 308, a Ruger M77RS 35 Whelen, and a Weatherby 30-06, so it's up to you who has the better taste. grin

I have one in .30-06 that I like a lot, shoots under 1" just a bit with a variety of loads. However, the finish on the stock was poor- it was a pretty piece of wood with unfilled pores. So, I rubbed some oil in the stock and after a few coats it looks much better- Think I might modify the stock with an ebony fore end cap too...

Curdog,

I put a coat of Tru-Oil on mine too. It was so bare when I got it I could smell the walnut at arms length, and there's no mistaking the smell of walnut.

Brad, thanks for the comment. It's the nicest one I've seen in person, though some of the ones posted here are at least as nice if not nicer.

The Kimber 84 is a sweet design. It broke my heart when the first two 7-08s didn't group well. I would still rather have a 7-08, but when I saw this one on the rack I was more than willing to "compromise" and get the 308. I suppose it's OK. wink

That's a nice rifle Redhead! The fact that's it's a .308 makes it all the nicer to me.

Redhead, an awful of of Kimber wood is too blonde for my taste... yours looks about model perfect to my eyes and I love the figure in it.

Not sure if I've ever said this on the campfire, but if I were back east and primarily hunted out of a treestand for whitetails (a supremely pleasant way to hunt IME), I'd never use a SS/Fiberglass rifle... nothing is as much fun while sitting on a stand as holding a beautiful piece of walnut wrapped around chromoly...

The cell phone picture doesn't do it justice. It glistens and changes in the sunlight like a kaleidoscope showing many different colors, sort-of irridescent. It is truly unique. The one coat of Tru-oil darkened it just a bit. I too like darker walnut, although I've seen some pretty blonde stocks too. Every piece of wood is different. That is one reason I like it. Synthetics look OK and are really functional, but pretty walnut really flips my switch.
