I lived in Charleston for 3 years back in the early 1970s and fell in love with the place. I could be up in the mountains in two to three hours (I was a big time backpacker), it's on the water, some of the best restraunts anywhere in the U.S. I've also spent a lot of time there while running boats up and down the coast for 15 years. The summers are brutal, but I think it's worth it. Never appeal to a mans "better side", he may not have one.

Though we are tossing around the idea of retiring to where the winter is shorter.(or at least traveling extensively, to help break up winter) But that's years down the road. My main gripe with AK is that motorcycle riding season is far too short. It's a fair trade though, when I think of the people I've met here, the things that I get to see and do, and the incredible amount of wide open space. Jeff
