After having adjusted my factory trigger and having a well respected rifle smith work on it, noticeable creep remains. Very frustrating. Anyone have first hand experience installing one of Timney's replacement triggers in a early 70s L579?

If removing material from my action is required I'm out.

I have zero doubts in my smith. He has made me several custom rifles and his rifles hold several bench rest records.

I only installed one but with that one I needed to inlet the recess where the safety lever rides deeper as the timney sits closer to the stock. If I remember right it was hitting when brought to the safe position as the pivot point of the two safeties were different. I also had to remove some wood from the trigger recess too. Don

Not first hand, as I had a smith install one on an early L579. Factory trigger had failed, no replacement parts. Used the model with no safety lever as a Winchester M70 style safety has been fitted. Mauser finger piece in place of Timmney's clears the bottom metal. Don't know about the wood fit, getting new. Doing it again on a second L579.

Just got it back today. Clarence said he had to remove some material for the safety lever. Outstanding result. Very crisp and light but unexpected improvement would be the safety. Larger lever and a more positive front to back motion. Recommended!
