eek 2950! Has that load been across a chronograph?

Yep. low deviation and 5 shot average 2948 fps to be exact.

Retumbo baby cool

If I can wrangle the permit,7mm Mashburn Super and 175 NPT at a hair under 3100 fps;or 270 Winchester and 130 Bitterroot.

It better be one of these two because that's all I have anymore,at least for the time being.

But then again, that's all I need...

300 RUM in a Rem 700 with Nosler Partitions180's at about 3250 fps and a Zeiss 4.5-14x44 with a Z800 plex. Backup is a 7 STW with either 175 or 160 Partitions and the scope keeps getting changed but it probably will be a Nikon 4-14 of some sort with a mil dot on it.

Well, this would be the first year without my 340 B. I had a lot of confidence in it.

Depending on circumstances it would be a 284 or a K95 30/06, both lightweights, the first ultra-so. If flatter, kinder country would avail, it would be a Kilimamjaro 350 Rm or a Ruger AFrican 375 R.

150-gr, 168-gr TTSXs at 2950 and 2875 fps respectively for the first two and a 225- TSX for the 35 at 2800 fps (225-gr Nos Part?) and either the 260-gr Accubond or the 250-gr TTSX in the 375 at 2950.

Just an old smokey, smelly muzzleloader.

Up close and personal.

It's looking like a 270 WSM will get the nod this year. I looked at another .300 Jarrett, but I've grown tired of heavy recoil. Found a NIB custom Kirby Allen that's going to find it's way here.
I getting married day after tomorrow, so this is kind of a single guys final act... another way of saying a handy excuse to buy a new rifle.

I hope to go with my son for his first elk hunt this year.

I'll be taking my .338-06 and he'll have a LVSF/TI in 7mm-08.
