Depends on whether it has a "bull barrel" on it.......

For me it will be the custom Interarms Mark X Whitworth with a 26" 7mm STW tube on it. It is set in a B&C stock and I got a trijicon accupoint 3-9x40 abd I can't wait to get out there. Second rifle season in SW colorado that is.

Enjoy the hunt while it lasts!

Win M70 EW in 338 Win Mag... Scope, TBD... I've got a Loopy VX-I 3-9X40 on it right now... but once I recover from my tax day blood letting, I'm planning on putting either a Loopy VX3 or Zeiss Conquest on it.

My 18 year old son will be shooting a Rem 700 Ti 300 Win Mag, same exact situation with the scope... TBD.

Both have ended up being tac drivers, even with the temporary glass...

After my day out shooting today, I think the 300 is a lock, it's always been the one rifle I've owned that I feel it's a guarantee that whatever the crosshairs are on its going down. Now that it has a Mickey on it that I got from Karnis, it's a no brainer!

Picked up a Nightforce 2.5-10x32 NP-R2 reticle and Zero-Stop turrets for the 270 WSM. Dies are in, brass has shipped, just need scope bases to arrive and this years' elk rifle will go together.

Haven't had a chance to use it, still waiting for bases. I did attach it to another rifle just to make some comparisons. Looking out my window at a hillside 567 yards out it has sufficient resolution to pick out very small targets, but compared to my S&B set at the same 10 power it is like looking at two different hillsides. I bought the NF for the turrets first, and reticle second. It is definitely a compromise. I had thought to go Swaro Summit or one of the new Leica ER's for the outstanding glass, but I use my turrets a lot and, for me, good glass without absolutely reliable turrets does not work like adequate glass and proven turrets. Too bad NF does not use best quality glass.

Agreed on the first sentence, and negative on the second. I think the glass is very good, but $1,400 is enough already. I don't want to pay for S&B glass....

I got the scope mounted last night, settled the rifle on a bipod and scanned little rocks on the hillside across the field at around 550 yards. The light was getting dim, end of legal hunting time dim. I believe I would have had sufficient resolution to still shoot varmint size targets, certainly deer size. Turning the magnification down to 6 brightened things up a lot.
This is looking to be one sweet rifle.
Tanner, I don't have a means of posting the pic on this site. PM me if you do and I'll send it to you.

If you go Conquest, go 3-9x40. You'll crap your pants in glee at the long, constant eye relief (and great optics, and great price). It's what's on my .338 and I think it's absolutely perfect.

The CENTER will hold.

I'm going on my first elk hunt this fall with a buddy in Montana. I'm taking either a Model 70 Extreme Weather in 300 WSM or a Kimber Montana in 280 AI. I bought the Model 70 just for this hunt, but I'm quickly falling in love with that Kimber.

Looking at 3 trophy unit bull tags this year. Back is Sako M995 in 30-378 with 32" Pacnor tube and 42 power Nightforce. Front is Remington 700 in 338 edge 29" barrel now wearing a Vortex Razor HD. Elk are going down this year.
