Geez! Anyone look at the prices of used 444 on GB lately? I am still PO'd that Marlin sold out to Remington, and Remington seems to have trashed what is arguably a simple, robust, and reliable platform, given the horror stories I have read lately...

I haven't been tracking them lately, how much are they going up.

I know that a lot of other guns are through the roof so to speak.

Part of the reason is Marlin no longer shows a 444 in their catalog, so those that want one are scrambling to find one, even a used one. That, plus the fact that Marlin stopped production of the 1895's is driving prices up.

Interesting......

When Winchester was going out, I bought a lightly used 444 94 Black Shadow and a new 444 Timber rifle. About the same time, I stumbled across a great shape 444P Marlin AKA Outfitter really cheap, so it also found it's way home. That was about 8 years ago & I have never shot any of the 3. Now I am sitting on a gold mine of sorts. I had planned to start using them, but with Remington messing the Marlins up & dropping the 444, who knows. Sad to see Marlin going down the tubes with the Remington purchase. Great rifles.

My 444T is the fifth one from the left, these are all MARLINS (NOT! ANY Remlins) and my 39M, 1894 .25-20, 1894C .357 and 1895M 450 Marlin have been acquired since this photo was taken.

Don't panic and feed the speculators---I picked up an excellent JM classic (with a cheap scope) last week for $425
If we refuse to buy rifles at the crazy speculative prices the prices will come down.
Win 94's in 444 have been fluctuating wildly for months now and are beginning to come down in price now that the "dumb money" has been spent.
Marlin turned out thousands and they haven't disappeared.

Hey Dogger
There's a real nice Win 94 444 right now on Gunbroker about to go for around $500. Thats a fair price---I wonder what the guys that paid $1000 during the feeding frenzy are thinking right about now!!!

I'd have to go at least with a peep. I'm trying (and liking) a Burris FastFire II on my Guide gun.

I had a .444 just like that. Like the .45-70, it puts a pure smack on game.

I've got a 444s made in 1981 and ditto what Tom said. They don't make em like that anymore.

I bought this one earlier this year. It's a 1965 gun, customized by John Gallagher.

Warhawk, very nice!

I went round and round with myself between 444 and 45-70. Eventually I went 45-70, but since I'm a 44 Mag shooter, I have had a few regrets not going 444 just for logistics.

I like the older Marlins, but would prefer the 1/20 twist ballard rifling on the newer 444s.
