I too was wondering about all the non-elk in the elk "as it lay" thread. Is an elg picture alright, or is that forbudt?

Thought that was a cool shot of a kudu, actually. Is an elk forum, but elk hunters hunt other stuff, too. There are coyotes, pheasants, grouse?, mule deer, etc. already in here. Fun stuff. I am guilty, did it just to upset Brad.....grin

Another lost .338 bullet. Exit wound really pumped it out. Didn't need the blood trail to find her.

Several years ago I read an article by Jim Zumbo. He said he'd shot a bull in some really nasty brush. It took him 3 hrs JUST TO TURN IT OVER TO START GUTTING IT. Hells bells, didn't the guy ever hear of no-gut and boning? I'd have started skinning and boning from the top down.

Here is my submission: My first elk. The photo does not do the slope justice. The only reason he quit sliding was that his antler caught on those dead limbs.

That's a great shot, Crowkiller.
But, I really wanted to comment on your avatar--it's gonna give me nightmares!

Some outstanding pictures everyone. Here's mine from yesterday morning. Got a quick shot off after she jumped from her bed 30 yards ahead of me. Ran a short way after the shot and died right next to an abandoned two track. Lucky day.

This thread really has me excited. Packing my stuff as I type this and packing the truck tomorrow after work. Leaving at 6AM Wednesday morning on a long drive from PA to CO. I hope to be able to post a pic here soon.
Enjoy the hunt while it lasts!
