I don't take as many pics as I should, but here are a few I scrounged up. Winchester Model 88, .308W on the hunt. Marlin Model 39. Rifle I learned to shoot with after a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun. I wish they still made them like this. What tree is the 88 is leaning against? I don't recognize the bark type.

carbon12,
That's a good question. I spent some time trying to figure it out myself when I first encountered it. I'm not 100% certain, but I think it is what is called a Hercules Club Tree (Zanthoxylum clava-herculis). Also known as Prickly Ash, Tooth Ache Tree, Tingle Tree. Not all Hercules Clubs' bark are as densely knobbed as this one.

I just got back from Colorado last night. I had to take a pic of " the Weatherby" and the antlers from my first bull, killed Thursday. The Weatherby is a 300 and wears a Zeiss Diavari 3-9x36 and has a Canjar trigger. I haven't decided which pic I like better so will post them both.

How bout my sons first deer he shot all by himself? Savage Lightweight Hunter in 7-08. Practice with a .22 pays off. He even shot the bolt and reloaded without thinking about it before he looked over the rife for the deer. He's hooked deep now! Patrick

Thanks Pieter. It's so compact it's almost like carrying a handgun.

My friend inherited this rifle when his father-in-law passed away. I'm not into notching stocks but this one causes me to stop and think:
