The joke for me is they are open year round here. NOW you've REALLY pizzed me off! Id be shooting and eating the bastids year round if I could.... BTW what kind of squirrels do they have in Alaska, and are they any good to eat? We have lots of pine squirrels here, but not worth the bother. At all.

We have artic ground squirrels(havent seen many), red tree squirrels, and several species of marmots. Moarmots are the best eating. I know many would disagree but I like em'

Your red squirrels eat just fine. Small, but excellent. Aberts squirrels also eat pine/spruce/fir cones and bark and they are among the best of the best.
Young marmot is supposed to be good. Old, not so much.

You guys make me so jealous. No one is more prepared for squirrel hunting as I. I have not had a place to do so in over 15 years.
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.

I don't know if any of you have ever been involved in a real, all-out squirrel war, but if you want to read about one

Well, gotta work Sat., so decided to take midday off and went huntin'. It's been a gloomy/rainy day, but it quit about 11 am. Loaded up and headed for the woods. Saw a squirrel, 30 seconds after I hit the woods. Little varmint disappeared. Sat on a log for 30 min. and he reapeared. Took a coupla shots, but I got him. Prettiest fox squirrel I ever shot. Old male. Definately limb chicken chowder additive! Some pics.... He's definately B&C material. His family jewels are bigger than mine! maddog
