Sakoluvr: Take some friendly advice and forget WHY the ammo is hard to find and accept the fact that it is - then just buy enough (or have on hand enough!) 22 ammunition to protect yourself and your family for the rest of your life.
Better safe than sorry.
And I would not describe folks who are buying up and storing up
22 ammo as being crazy - far from it!

simple - .22 ammo is cheap, almost everyone has one, and many fear the gvnt. will ban guns and/or ammo.

Yep. People will be dumping & throwing away AR because there's no ammo for them.

Really your view just doesn't come into play for a very long time for someone that looks ahead and plans.

wait till people wake up to the fact that a LOT of smokeless powder, most 7x62x39 ammo, a LOT of brass casings, and so on are made oversead, ALL subject to import/export controls and see how that flies in the very near future. Come to think of it, a LOT of .22lr ammo is made in mexico.

Better off if you bought a flintlock. Make your own powder, find your own flints. just stock pile some lead.

Already done, now what?

I also put a "Night Arrow 4" on my .22 LR T/C target barrel. I really like the ELEY subsonic hollow point at 1024 fps. The Lapua scoremax at 1033 fps was ok, but mine have round noses. Those ELEY hollow points are the cat's meoww. I bought the scope to put on my .22 Hornet and for coyote and fox night-hunting. But they made coyote night-hunting illegal, so only fox is left. Right now, I'm trying it on the rimfire for some feral cats. The various CBs are ok (but usually dirty), the CCIs at 700 fps , the CCi quiet 22, and the Aguila sniper subsonic are all great, but I like the heavy (60 gr) bullet of the Aguila rounds. Anyway, it never hurts to have low-light capacity, and plenty of ammo. Buy the best. I figure that when you really need that cartridge, cost don't mean jack.

The threat of a $0.05/bullet tax is enough to start hoarding 22LR....

I do find it funny as schit that there is still gobs of 40 S&W around. Last time Obama wanted everyone to buy guns it was the same. Must be a liberal cartridge or something....

Whah? Must be the homebrew. You shoulda seen the journey I made from 45-120 to 38-55 to 50-110 to 32-20 to 45-70. Now that sort of pissed me off. I could have saved a lot of time.

Sorry, no homebrew, store brew or EtOH of any sort.

Been down much of that road and some other related side roads as well. Have 3 45.70s now. Not sure the point, however.
