So when do we say enough is enough?
They keep doing this schit because there is no consequences. The Marxist Socialist Fascist inspired politicians could not care less about gun owners or the Constitution. They have their agenda and nothing will stop them. L.W.

Standard 1 mil liability policies here cost me about $150/yr.
The things that come to those that wait may be the things left by those who got there first.

The Dems are on their game! They are not missing any methods to drive guns out of our homes.. Exactly.. And it appears there's no one to stop 'em..

We do live in a free country, and are not ok with our freedoms being taken away. It really is that simple.

I can tell you on the local level there have alreayd been several demonstrations both locally and in Albany. There was a local one this past Saturday in front of Republican Party Minority Leader Dean Skelos (Traitor) office. It will be interesting to see what happens to Skelos when he come sup for re election.

Germany is for the most part 'free'. You want guns, drivers license, boats, trapping, and reloading you attend a school. After graduating you can have these things. The problem with the gun violence is not gun law, DOJ published a memo stating banning AR-15 and mag count will not lower crime rate. its Storage, we can go back Columbine all these mass shootings were done with stolen guns. PS i do not choose to live here, Uncle Sam placed me here

Liberty means you don't need to ask permission from some state official before you proceed to exercise a right, and we don't look to our government to tell us what our rights are. Rather, it's by the standard of our rights that we judge the degree to which our government has become tyrannical.

Well said..
And driving/owning cars is not a right - it's a privilege... Owning/using a gun is a RIGHT, not a priviledge - and the damn dems in this country are doing their level best to turn this country into Europe..
Those who live in NY must figure a way to get these illegal/unconstitutional laws overturned, and pronto..

There are at least two lawsuits that have started already, one from a Gun Rights Attorney out of Buffalo, N.Y. and the other is the NYSRPA in conjunction with the NRA.
The real question is how long will it take to get in front of the Supreme Court and will that happen before Obama gets to make an appointment to the Court in his second term ?

Wouldn't federal courts have first chances at these laws? Then, if upheld, would go to the SCOTUS.. That, no doubt, would take a while, unless everything gets fast-tracked somehow (wishin' here)..

I thought some folks here said that if these laws ever passed, they would be immediately enjoined. What happened to that?

I bittched about it for years to no avail. I've never utilized any liability insurance, so I wonder how much I've paid out over the years with no return. Another thing to add to what Hawkeye said. If a thief breaks into your home and steals your guns, is it you who should be blamed? This is yet another example in our country, of punishing the innocent and victimized and blaming them rather than placing responsibility on the wrong-doer. Nobody who has their stuff stolen should be blamed in any way unless they were just extremely negligent-like had their guns setting out beside an old recliner by the road on swap day or something.

Standard 1 mil liability policies here cost me about $150/yr. But what would they cost if people were required to buy them and companies did not have to price them to sell? Is a gun liability policy even going to be something an insurance company in NY would want to take on? I can see companies wanting to stay away from this and if that becomes the case they could charge any amount they want - do you think the NY government would step in to regulate the prices if this happened? ... and if so would it be to the advantage of gun owners?

In legalese, the way that is expressed is that "criminal acts break the chain of causation," i.e., when analyzing the cause of a harm for the purpose of assigning liability, you follow the chain back to the first cause sine qua non, i.e., the first cause "without which not," unless there's an intervening and superseding cause, i.e., a cause that breaks the chain of causation. Criminal acts do precisely that, so if someone were harmed by a stolen firearm, you only follow the causation chain back to the thief, not all the way back to the owner from whom it was stolen, even if the owner's failure to adequately secure the weapon could be argued to have been a cause sine qua non, i.e., a cause in fact, but not a proximate cause for the purposes of the law.

Think about this. NY enacted a law a couple of years ago specifically defining pellet guns as firearms. Further, the governor has placed a gag order on the NY Dept of Environmental Conservation. "It bans DEC staffers from talking directly to members of the media, unless they've given prior approval by the department's public relations officials, whose actions are being monitored closely by the governors staff." This from the Syracuse Post Standard in an article written by David Figura dated 1/27/2013. We currently have an obnoxiously political environment here in NYS. I am cautiously optimistic that we can keep it from spreading and eventually turn it around.
Imagine your grave on a windy winter night. You've been dead for 70 years. It's been 50 since a visitor last paused at your tombstone..... Now explain why you're in a pissy mood today.
