Nice.
I'd rather have one of these than any comparably valued new rifle.

Here is one you guys may like, Im second owner, org owner was a Beechcraft pilot that had his FFL in CA, he ordered this one from Winchester custom shop in 1988, Sporter Varmint in 22-250 he shot it 9 times then sold it to me in 08. I have his order and all correspondence with winchester box and shipping sleeve all paperwork. The old gent sold it to me for exactly what he paid Winchester in 1988. The darn thing is super accurate with any ammo Ive tried and has shot several sub .5 using white box Win 45 gr stuff. Ive shot several crows but the wood is to nice to hunt, I do have a good plastic stock the I use with 2 other sporter varmints. not a very good photo but. another post 64 varmint that shoots as good as it looks.. EDIT, I see where I posted this gun a year or so ago, I must be getting halftimers, it will not let me delete this post ... very best

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

My NH Synthetic Super Grade 416 Remington. Very nice! How's the recoil? I never shot a rifle chambered in 416 Rem. before. Kill anything with it?

My NH Synthetic Super Grade 416 Remington. Very nice! How's the recoil? I never shot a rifle chambered in 416 Rem. before. Kill anything with it? Recoil is fine loading 400 gr to 2200 fps, more is more which I am fine with but wonder the need. Can't see for more given what the old British SxS's achieved. It weighs just a click below 10# as shown, empty. We shall see. It is ~4 years away from killing what is was built for. Just planning my retirement...

WSM, let us know how she shoots. That's a nice rifle... Thank you Sir, Load development has been going slow but I have a few loads starting to show promise. 36 grains of IMR4064 under 87 grain V-max gave me a nice 3/8" three shot group. I like when they all touch and these just made it. Now to repeat it. 40 grains of IMR4895 and 70 grain Nosler BT's are showing promise and chronyed an average of 3328 fps today. Now this was only a 3 shot average. Wind got bad and I had a garden to get to. I think I will bed the action and float the barrel as that has not been done yet. The guy I got this off of said it was a shooter but to tell the truth I am not sure he shot it more than a few times.

Damn, you got a good one!!! Good luck with bedding it if you do decide to go that route. It's probably factory "hot glue" bedded right now I'm assuming. They can shoot good from the factory that way but that stuff becomes a nightmare after a while. Better to take that crap out and get some good stuff like devcon 10110 in there. Alot of times the factory bedding will crack and flake off and affect accuracy. I'm sure a lot of you guys have seen this kind of stuff before with the factory bedding: Or this: Better if it stays in the stock and not on the action ..:

I'm going to go full circle here and post a '51 standard grade 30-06 that BSA sold me awhile back. I believe it's the same gun he posted at the start of this thread. I recenty bought one of the new Zeiss HD5 3.5-15x42 scopes with the RapidZ 600 reticle for this rifle, and this was my first time using it. I like it!! This rifle is non finicky and drills with 165 gr Interlocks. I thought I'd try out a bunch of 150 gr loads to see what it likes and was really surpised at how well it liked Barnes 150 gr. TTSX. I know it doesn't count since it's a 3-shot group but I'll take it!! Eric

Sorry to see you didn't feel confident enough to pull the trigger 2 more times.. . That one is bedded right and it looks like it's got the right nut behind the butt .. Good shooting buddy!

Hells no, the mojo factor on this rifle is now well past the $2K mark.
