160 grain if you're going with lead jacketed. The 160 grain Partition has worked extremely well for me.

140 grain if you're going with the Barnes.

I dumped my 7 RM a long time ago in favor of more efficient cartridges. But kept the 160s for use in the 280 and 280AI, when I wasn't using the Barnes.

I have used 160 accubonds and 154 hornady interbonds for antelope, deer and elk.

I believe the 154 to 160 grain bullet is the optimum when considering the factors bullet weight, MBR, velocity, BC, and energy retention.

I have tried other calibers, but the 7 RM is my go to for western hunting.

I am still a fan of killing stuff with the same bullet I shot all summer, and I can better afford to shoot the cup and core bullets all summer.

The 160 Sierra spbt has proven to deliver excellent accuracy from my 7STW and the 162 Hornady btsp is almost as accurate. After a sample of exactly two bulls taken with the 162 Hornady, I see no reason to change my habits.

I use the 150 TTSX in mine. If I used something else, I'd pick from these: 160NPT, 175NPT, 160 NAB

Not a 7mm, but I have been very happy with a 180 gr Partition or Interlock from my .300 mags for deer, pig and elk. Happy enough to not have to try anything else.

I think a 150 gr partition or interlock would work just as well from a 7mm mag.

I used 160gr Speer Mag-Tip in the 7 mag which worked fine but is no longer made.
I'm working with 139GR Hornady GMX these days in the 7mm mag.
No elk killed yet with this bullet but we'll see about this fall.

Bigfish9684: I recommend the Nosler 160 grain Partition for your 7mm Remington Magnum.
I have had excellent results on the game you mention with this bullet - it is also a splendid choice for Black Bear.
Best of luck to you with whichever bullet you choose.

160 Nosler Partition for the win. Gotta get some dies and boolits for the 7RM but the 160 partitions will be the first I try. thanks for the input everyone.

If you do not roll yer' own, federals 160 NP load.

If you do roll yer' own, 160 NP or 175 NP.

So far, I am liking how the 175 NP has been working from my 7RM. Two 'yotes, some crows, couple deer and one fat cow elk to date.

Everything has been a bang-flop exception being a small mule deer buck that was shot with a horn 175 gr spire point. At the shot, it stumbled sideways then to leaped into the air, landing on a blow down lodge pole pine and sliding down it to the root wad of the tree dead about 25 feet father down the mountain from where was standing.

Hagle and Page where big fans of the long, heavy Noslers in the 7mm mags, and I can see why... They shoot flat, hit hard, expand very well and go deep.

I don't shoot a 7-Mag, but a std .280 Rem!

Both Partitions or Accubonds have worked well

Would be confident using one 160 load for elk, mulies, proghorns
anything else. cool
