This right here!! Love EAW's!! Next to the Suhler-style claw mounts, the EAW rings and bases are the finest out there, IMO.

For the Ruger 77, I feel the Alaska Arms are the best available.

I am interested in looking at the Near Mfg. Alphamount. This looks like a very well designed and rigid one-piece base and rings.

Ah [bleep], do we have to have a favorite ring? Maybe I'll do like K did and break down and try some S&K's. smirk

Me too. But as long as there are no dovetails involved I can live with most any of the others.

DNZ, Talley LW, and Seekins. Most everything gets DNZ's now if starting from scratch.

Depends on the rifle

DNZ one and 2 piece and Talley detachbles are nice on utilitarian lightweight rifles and muzzleloaders

Conetrols are nice on wood/walnut guns

Sako Optilocks are the best solution for Sako and Tikka rifles...this learned the hard way.

They are as rare as hens teeth but the first Q/D Talley's with the single top screw are without a doubt my favorite production rings.

Looks a lot like the Lenard Brownell rings.

I used Burris Zee rings for years with some Skotch-Kote to keep the scope from moving. I had a light 7mmSTW with a heavy scope that ate two sets of Leopould rings and would shift with Burris Signatures. The Zee rings and Skotch-kote kept it tight.

These days it's Aadmount rings on my custom 7STW. In my opinion, the best rings on the planet.

+1 for Weaver-style. I like the look of the verticle Warnes but not the bulk.

I just bought a rifle with S&Ks and LOVE the looks of them, though I've yet to get it finished so I can judge function.

I really like Talley Lightweights too. I have a set of steel Talleys on a nearly finished custom.

Any Conetrol fans or reviews?

I find Conetrol to be great rings but overly complex.

S&K's are simpler with the same great looks.

Lots of great choices and I can't think of any I just absolutely refuse. I have used Leupold DD's, Weavers and stock CZ without any reservation. Lately I have recommended and mounted the Burris Zee's and the Talleys, then used the S and K's on my own - in that order.

Man- back in the day we would have certainly had someone chime in to say that all he needed was M1 type sights, or a peep, and he was good out to 400 yds and don't see no need for scopes yadda yadda... by now. :-)
