Or Ed will goose me just as I squeeze my shot off. On our prairie-dog shoots in NW Kansas, over-long Bill J usually sat in the front seat (more room for his over-long legs). One day, I was sitting in the front seat, with Bill behind me. Just as I was about to take-up the trigger slack for a long-range shot, my cross-hairs suddenly started going all over the prairie. "What the ?" With one kielbasa forefinger, good buddy Bill was gently and rhythmically pressing the heel of my stock. There's more than one way for everybody to enjoy a good laugh on a prairie-dog shoot, and my good buddy Bill was always good for a bunch of 'em.

Good. I coulda talked my way out of a jam, but I was concerned about Ed. Texas has a reciprocity agreement with NM, so your good to go Dog. Just don't carry your Pistole inside if you happen to make a pit stop at one of the many Navajo or Apache Casinos in NM. You'll end up in Indian Jail on the Rez & some Chief will end up with your Pistole

I would imagine that working with a soft blank, I could gen up a neck bushing die, to be suitably heat treated afterward (are you listening tex n cal ?) I hesitate to try and do initial case forming with a set up like that.
GTC so a stick of, say A-2 tool steel 1.25" dia would work? After machining - Austentitize in stainless foil, air cool, Harden & double temper to Rc 56-60? I think someone once told me most commercial dies are made of A-2, as it changes dims very little in hardening. I could likely round up the material pretty easily, though I'd have to farm out the heat treat. There are a lot of dies made from A-2 but almost NO reloading dies. A-2 is a very expensive tool steel and is not used for that reason. Almost all dies are made from leaded steel or similar and case hardened. I have used A-2 when I can get suitable scraps and it is great stuff!! Because of its high chrome content it air hardens nicely.

No sir. The PD shoot is done from a bench. Well.............. I'll bet the bench ain't made right, then. What's wrong with a folding table?Or somebody will mess with my scope. Nobody in this crowd twirls another man's knobs. Or Ed will goose me just as I squeeze my shot off. Who, ME? No.... I got it........ I'll probably bring the wrong PD rifle for the altitude. You're bringing a Red Ryder, too?Y'all practice shooting........... I'll practice excuses. Don't worry, there will be an excuses practice session for all participants before anyone fires a shot Ed

Excuses here are a few.
Bug flew in my ear when I pulled the trigger.
Ed farted next to me.
Saw Bigfoot REALLY!
Did not drink enough coffee.
Ed put Tequila in my coffee.
Judy gave me the wrong shells.

Tried K-Y jelly,it sort of worked, the bullets exploded at the muzzle. Guess K-Y made them a little too "fast."

Ken, you can't stay home. Without your wit, wisdom, and wisecracks we won't hit critical mass for a great time. Besides, we need someone to help Blue keep us honest about our shooting. After reading about lubing stuff up I think I'm going to stock up on rubber gloves and disinfectant wipes. Ed
