Haven't had 'slaves 17 Fireball out for a while, so I popped a couple with it this afternoon. That Mule Deer feller was right when he said that the furball really could get it done to 300..... Who could have imagined?......

Grand daughter and me went hog hunting last night, didnt see a hog, but i shot a bobcat, that we caught walking down the road. about a 4ft long female, 100 yrds .223,cat never knew we were there. real windy, texas heart shot.got in a hell of a rain storm coming home in my jeep, no top we were both sitting in a puddle, covered with mud. we had a great time. wish i had some p-dogs and chucks to shoot at down here.if i did i would get a 17-something. rio7

Finally caught a little break in the rains to shoot a few chucks. All shot in the barnyard with the Marlin 17HMR between the sawmill and the barn/silo. Biggest one was 76yds off bipod, far right one was 49yds off sandbag, small one was 40yds off hand standing. First blood for the new truck .
On an endless quest for furry targets.

A 20 grain v-max will over-penetrate skwirkles. I only found the top half, 'bout 30 feet away...

they're conquests.....I spent all my dough on swaro's and wanted another cheaper pair for beaters. I may sell them and pick up a set of the leupold mckinleys for my beaters.

Prairie dogs are pretty thin in this area, but decided to take a ride this am.. Mostly to get out and run the goldens.. Decided to do something a bit different for rifles so I took my rebarreled Marling 336 in .25-35.. A pal and I had a couple made up in this caliber maybe 10 years ago.. I haven't shot mine much in the last few, so decided to give it a run.. Ranges weren't long, 75 to maybe 125 yards.. A couple were just peeking out of their burrows.. I have a 2.5 Weaver on this rifle with a dot. The barrel is a Shaw 24" long.. Years ago I had loaded some 75 grain Horn. Vmax over H335. It proved very accurate this morning bagged 12 dogs.. Missed several shots also.. Later, I resighted it in with 117 grain for this falls deer and antelope season..
