Well, it's raining, and supposed to keep it up all day and night. Sooo.......I had squirrels soaking in the fridge, and decided I need me some BBQ squirrel for din din tonite, while mama's bowling.

Took a cup of flower, and added a tsp. each of garlic pepper, salt, and minced onion. Breaded the pieces, and fried in my cast iron skillet for about 4-5 min. on a side. Threw the pieces in the crock pot and dowsed them in sweet baby ray's bbq, and qtr. cup of water. Gonna let them slow cook on low til about 5-6 pm, and set down to supper with a big ole glass of ice tea.

You boys have a good day! grin

Nailed this one late yesterday afternoon. I was sitting waiting on something to move, and spotted two way off in the distance. I crept up to about sixty yards from where I thought I had seen them, and then sat down again, hoping I hadn't been spotted and started searching with the binoculars. After what seemed like an eternity, I found one of them, waaaay up high in the top of a tree in a limb crotch. It was crouched on a limb looking towards me, probably didn't think I had seen where it was, but I laid the crosshairs right between the eyes, and that's exactly where the bullet struck, exiting out the left side ribs behind the shoulder. The RWS Subsonic HP made that old hollow "thoop" sound of hollowpoint striking flesh and down it came. If I hadn't sat down behind a tree so that I could get a good solid rest I would probably have never gotten the shot. Waited a while but never could find the second squirrel, it got away unscathed.

Nice pic and nice shooting! I hope to get out 1 or 2 more times, before our firearm deer season opens on Nov. 16th. I'll have to lay off the limb chickens til after Dec. 1. Sure been a fun season, so far, and we have almost 3 mos. left. grin

Looks like a nice morning. Think I'll head out about 9 am or so, for a couple hrs. Setting here debating on the iron sighted 10/22 or my scoped Sportster. Decisions, decisions....grin

Crow season (dumbest crap ever) opened yesterday, so #2 son and I went out to try a new electronic call I had bought. Got 7 and when we got back Mawsquaw had homemade biscuits, squirrel and grave waiting on us.
Made up for my bad shooting.
BTW, before you ask, I've had to eat crow many times in my life just not the black feathered ones.

Got to the woods about 9:15 am. It was absolutely beautiful out. Started easing down through the woods, and not much going on. Over the next 45 mins. I got towards the back of the woods, and saw one moving around on the ground. Kept easing from tree to tree, and finally got to within about 30 yds. Took a rather hasty shot and missed..... Stood behind a tree and watched the area for about 20 mins. All of a sudden I looked up and there he was setting on a limb scratching himself. Up with the Sportster and pop! Then thunk, as he hit the ground.

He was a big ole dude, and had his full winter fur on.

Went on and saw another one on the ground, but he got in a hole on me. Looked over my shoulder and there was a youngin hanging on the side of a tree. Popped him for the pot, too.

I didn't take the iron sighted 10/22, this time, but I think I coulda done just as good with it. Next few outings I'm taking it.

Went for a walk with the kids yesterday and found a plump squirrel.
Beautiful day with a very nice and accurate rifle.

Got one more for the stew bag today. Snuck in this AM to sit by a patch of acorns. Had seen a bunch of scrapes in the area, but no buck showed up.

Hiking out, this guy popped up about a 1/4 mile from the truck and froze on the branch. I had time to set the rifle down and draw.

Counts as iron sights?

This what some of that area looks like.
