ObamaCare is Dead and it aint coming back. It cannot be fixed.
Tentative funeral arrangements are scheduled for January 2015.

This disaster will not be transformed into any big government socialized single payer disaster. Almost nobody wants anything to do with it or anything like it.

It will cost the Democrats the Senate this fall and will hurt Hillarys run for the White House.

5 ObamaCare Nightmares for Democrats in 2014
by Mike Flynn 1 Jan 2014

Democrats are no doubt eager to put 2013 and the disastrous ObamaCare roll-out behind them.
There is, however, a reason they pushed implementation of the health care law until well after Obama's reelection.

There are 5 major reasons the Democrats long ObamaCare nightmare is just beginning.

1. People who think they have coverage, don't
.
Approximately 2 million Americans have signed up for ObamaCare, far below the Administration's goal. As these Americans may learn, though, signing up for coverage through the exchanges doesn't mean they have coverage. M
any haven't yet made their first premium payment. Washington and Nevada, the only states that report this number, say half of the enrollees have not made a premium payment.

The Obama Administration has pressured insurance companies to accept payments until January 10th.

It is unclear, however, if people even understand they need to make a payment.

Beyond this, there are problems with processing individual applications.
The state of Iowa recently asked 16,000 people to reapply for insurance, because of ongoing problems with the federal exchange.
The state of Oregon made robocalls to thousands of residents, warning them to seek coverage on their own if they hadn't heard from the state exchange by December 23.

Potentially hundreds of thousands of people are entering the new year thinking they have coverage and will soon learn they don't.

2. Millions more people will lose insurance in 2014.
News that 5 million individuals had their health insurance policies cancelled at the end of 2013 came as a shock to most Americans.
Obama and Democrats who supported ObamaCare had repeatedly assured the public that if they like their policy they could keep it.

The fact that wasn't true smashed their credibility.

Unfortunately for Democrats, millions more Americans will have their existing policies cancelled next year.
If a person in the individual insurance market renewed their policy in 2013, they didn't receive a cancellation notice. They will next year, however.

Potentially 10-15 million Americans will have their policies cancelled, just ahead of the mid-term elections
.

3. Deductible Shock
Many first-time buyers of insurance coverage are likely to be shocked by the high deductibles under ObamaCare's most affordable plans.

Under the cheapest plan in ObamaCare, a family of 4 would have to pay over $12,000 in medical bills before insurance kicked in.
Every year.

A recent study found that just 14% of Americans understood insurance provisions like "deductibles" and "co-pays."
The other 86% are due for a big shock in 2014.

4. Insurance Premium Sticker Shock
ObamaCare only "works" if millions of healthy, young adults buy health insurance. Their premiums are needed to subsidize insurance for older and sicker adults.
For young adults, though, anything beyond a catastrophic plan is largely unnecessary.

The ObamaCare exchanges have not reported demographic information for people buying coverage, but it is reasonable to assume, given the difficulty of signing up, that those who most need coverage, i.e. older and sicker adults, make up a large share of new enrollees.

Even though many Americans are already facing higher premiums through ObamaCare, the costs could skyrocket even more next year unless millions of healthy people buy coverage.
Insurance companies will have to drastically increase premiums to cover their costs.
This will make coverage more unaffordable for many Americans, potentially causing a "death spiral" in coverage.

As relatively health(y) Americans drop coverage, premiums will have to increase for those who are in the most need of medical care.

5. Employer Mandate
In July 2013, President Obama announced that he had unilaterally decided to delay ObamaCare's mandate that employers provide coverage until 2015.
Employers with more than 50 employees now have to provide health insurance or pay a penalty, effective January 1, 2015.

The penalty for not providing coverage is $3,000 per employee. For many businesses, it will be cheaper to pay the penalty than provide health insurance, when there is so much uncertainty about future premium costs.

This is a feature of the law, not a bug.
The long-term goal is to get Americans out of employer-provided health coverage and into the exchanges, leading ultimately to a single-payer system.

Had Democrats really wanted to encourage employers to provide coverage, they would have made the penalty higher than annual premium costs. They also wouldn't have put a tax on policies offered by employers.

Unfortunately for Democrats, businesses will inform their employees of their plans around the middle of 2014, just before the midterm elections.

Many businesses will alter their operations to fall below the mandate threshold. Others will simply drop coverage and pay the penalty.

This will be a shock for most people, especially since most Americans have health insurance through their employer.

That this shock could come just weeks before the midterm elections will create a nightmare for Democrats on the ballot.

As we enter 2014, Democrats are trying to reassure themselves that Americans will eventually embrace ObamaCare.
They point to the "good" things in the law, i.e. parents able to keep kids on their policy until they are 26, free health screenings and new prescription drug benefits.

The problem for Democrats, however, is that those provisions are already in effect and have been since 2010.
Any benefit Americans perceive from these provisions is already factored into their views of ObamaCare.

The Democrats front-loaded all the "good" provisions in ObamaCare and put off the politically painful provisions until after Obama's reelection.

The tab is coming due in 2014, however. The potentially very negative consequences of the law will unfold throughout the year.

Americans will finally find out "what's in the bill."

They are not likely to be happy.

Only 14% of the people signing up understand what a deductible is and it's not clear to them they need to make a payment. ?????????? Now you know why Obama won... I guess the Russian newspaper was right when the headlines said " Obama reelected by illiterate society." Millions of Obama supporters can't even read what they sign up for.

We have reviewed our current policy that is "grandfathered in"...until 2015. Without going in to details, unless something changes, like this whole boondoggle scrapped, we will drop our coverage in 2015.
The rank-and-file, John Q. Public has NO IDEA what's just around the corner and when he finds out, and starts getting screwed with his "premiums" or penalties based on his income, and he's living one the edge anyway, paycheck to paycheck, then look for the S to HTF! IF this goes forward as is, it will likely cause a complete economic collapse.

I have a friend that believes this could be the proverbial "straw that breaks the camel's back" which awakens America to the reality of Washington politics...finally, and causes a complete redefinition of the United State's political scene insofar as on a national level.

I'm not so "optimistic".

I could see anarchy...literally.

What do you want to bet that the Dems push the most undesirable components to some point following the midterms. All about maintaining/expanding power, nothing at all to do with representing the people on either side of the aisle.

Eleven GOP Attorneys General Blast Unconstitutional Obamacare Changes
Eleven Republican attorneys general have sent a letter to embattled Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius slamming the Obama administration for endless Obamacare changes that it calls "flatly illegal under federal constitutional and statutory law."

The letter, written by West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, states: "We support allowing citizens to keep their health insurance coverage, but the only way to fix this problem-ridden law is to enact changes lawfully: through Congressional action."

The letter added, "The illegal actions by this administration must stop."

Joining Morrisey are attorneys general from Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia.

The letter also blasts the Obama administration for ignoring "the widespread public outcry over the security of consumers' private information."

The attorneys general are not alone in their alarm. Legal scholars have raised questions over the constitutionality of the Obama administration's myriad "on the fly" changes and delays to the highly unpopular Obamacare law.

BS. It's full steam ahead on this thing & no amount of opposition will stop it. Reps can talk all they want cuz when it's time to do more they cave.

It's easy to rape the people when their presumed protectors are just pimps. Both parties are committed to nothing more than increased power in DC. I do think that between the high premiums and the high deductibles that the number of Americans with health coverage will implode.

This ain't gonna be pretty. I can only hope that Americans get out the rope & torches.

Yes, it will be interesting to see if the Republicans sign up to help the Democrats dig themselves out of this hole. If just one or two of the many legal challenges are successful, the Rs will have a choice. The Ds will never vote to outright kill the ACA, but they may be more than willing to change parts of it that are giving them political trouble. But for that to happen they will have to have R support. Will the Rs provide the votes based on the old song - "it's the right thing to do"?

I have already received a letter from the Veterans Administration as a Disabled Veteran receiving medical care at VAMC Seattle that I am fully covered by the VA and that Obamacare can go Pound Sand.

Am I ever happy that someone was looking out for me when I was 25/26 years old as that original 10% rating that the VA gave me in 1966 sure looks good now.

It has become much, much worse than I ever imagined. Obamacare is not even fully in effect yet and already we are seeing the President playing with the carriers like a toddler plays with toy trucks
Employers will be mandated to buy your policies for 2014
(Oops, employers are angry)
Employers wont be mandated until 2015 if then
Small employers will give workers a choice of health plans through the SHOP program in 2014
(Oops, we cant get the web site ready in time)
Small employers wont have to offer a choice of plan until sometime later
You must cancel these individual policies
(Oops, public backlash)
You must reinstate these policies
(Oops, many insurance commissioners wont allow it)
You must continue to cover providers and drugs even for
(Oops, web site problems)
The deadline for enrollment will be December 23, 2013
(Oops, too much traffic)
The deadline for enrollment will be December 24, 2013
Never mind, there is no deadline
First months premium must be received by December 31, 2013
(Oops, back-end problems with the web site)
First months premium must be received by January 8, 2014
Make that January 10, 2014

How can anyone run a business this way? This is worse than being a federal agency. No federal agency would be expected to stop and start on a personal whim like this. These arent rules, they arent regulations, they are dictates based on nothing more than Kathleen Sebelius momentary feelings.
These are only the glitches that have been made public. God knows what orders and threats are being issued in closed-door meetings.

How long will the insurance industry abide being treated like shoe shine boys? Mr. Obama will not be in office forever. His regime is already coming to an end. What will these companies do then? He will no longer be around to grant or withhold bailout (risk corridor) money. No other president, Democrat or Republican, will ever be as arrogant or irrational.
It is well past time for the industry, supposed Titans of Wall Street, to grow some spine and start thinking about the best interests of their customers and shareholders

I don't see how Obummer Care can get WORSE,,, it was a friggin train wreck from before Day ONE....how can a train wreck, be an even worse train wreck? It was a failure before it became law by those friggin Democrats, and no amount of their good will wishes is going to change that...

its the biggest ClusterFudk ever produced by the US Government...

the only thing this administration is good at, is making up excuses, pointing the accusational finger at everyone else for all of their failures, and making promises that are just lies, and violating the US Constitution with impunity, like has never been seen before...

beyond excelling at those taks, this administration sucks worse than any other one in American history...

'The people in there told me that since I didn't have an insurance card, I would be billed for the whole cost of the x-ray,' Galvez said, her young daughter in tow. 'It's not fair you know, I signed up last week like I was supposed to.'
The x-ray's cost, she was told, would likely be more than $500.

Galvez said she enrolled in a Carefirst Blue Cross bronze plan at a cost of about $450 per month through healthcare.gov, three days before Christmas.
'No one has sent me a bill,' she said.

Her Carefirst plan, identified on the Obamacare website as BlueChoice Plus Bronze, carries a $5,500 per-person deductible for 2014 an amount she would have to pay out-of-pocket before her coverage would apply to medical expenses.
The Inova radiology department wouldn't speak with MailOnline, and Carefirst did not respond to a request for comment.
A similar situation frustrated Mary, an African-American woman small businesswoman who asked MailOnline not to publish her last name. She was leaving the Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia with two family members.
'I had chest pains last night, and they took me in the emergency room,' Mary said. 'They told me they were going to admit me, but when I told them I hadn't heard from my insurance company since I signed up, they changed their tune.'

She told MailOnline that a nurse advised her that her bill would go up by at least $3,000 if she were admitted for a day, and her doctor told her the decision was up to her

'Should I be in the hospital? Probably,' she said. 'Maybe it's one of those borderline cases. I have to think that if I were really in danger, they wouldn't give me the choice. But what if I think I'm covered and I'm really not?'
'The emergency room bill is going to be bad enough.'
