Chuck:

A] I will give you a full refund including excess shipping (every penny you've put out) right now, and you return the stock to me.

B] Or I will order you another one, send you it, plus a money order for the difference between every single penny you've put out and my cost on the stock. Basically, brand new stock at cost. All the work done at McMillan and drop shipped to you direct. You've paid $495, plus $50 in shipping, plus your eventual shipping to me of the old stock. You'd get a new EDGE and a check.

You keep the stock you have now until the second is ready.

In either case, I need the first stock returned to me in one piece. I don't consider it junk.

Rick

Chuck,

Perhaps emotions are still a little high and that is affecting the way you are reading Rick's offer.

Rick, please correct me if I am wrong, but this is what I think is being offered.

Chuck,
Rick is offering to order you a brand new stock, and is not asking for a second payment.

You get to keep and use the current stock until the new one arrives.

Rick will reimburse your shipping charges, and send you a partial refund of your initial investment, effectively reducing your total cost of the stock.

When the new stock arrives, and meets your expectations, you send the old stock back to him.

I don't see where you are being asked to send any more money to anyone.

This seems like a fair offer to me. You don't have to wait to use your rifle, and yet still end up with a new stock.

All the risk here is on Rick, if you choose to accept this offer.

Chuck,

CAS spelled it out.

Rick's offering a brand-new stock to you, at his costs. Which means that you get credit for everything you've paid up to now, you get the brand new stock, AND you get a check for the difference between what you've already paid and what Rick's cost on the new stock happens to be (I'd suspect a copy of the invoice will be with the check). Oh, and you get it with no shipping costs to you, nor on the old stock coming back to Rick.

Or, you get all your money expended thus far back, plus a shipping tag (on Rick's nickel) for the old stock.

Either way, you are out zero additional money.

CAS:

Of course that's what I'm offering.

Chuck:

I'm not asking you to buy a second stock.

I'm offering to

A] give you a full and complete refund right now of all of your out of pocket expenses and you return the stock, or

B] to replace the one you have with a brand new one and cut YOU a check for the difference between my cost and your total out of pocket expense.

In either case, I just need the old stock back.

You can have all your money back, or a brand new stock and a check.

Rick

Sorry, I thought you were asking me to front your cost for a new stock and send you the old one.

Plan B it is.

Thanks.

Good call.

I suspect y'all will keep us posted on the new stock, how that transaction goes down, and what fleshes out in the end.

Hard to see things as clearly as necessary sometimes when you're in the middle (bt/dt).

I suspect that this one comes out well in the end.

I'm just hoping your "YAY!" was commensurate with the way Special Ed would deliver the line on Crank Yankers.
