The bear was an archery kill during the Va. archery season a few years ago. I have taken 4 Va. bears: two with a bow and two with a rifle. The two rifle kills were with the above pictured 280 and the other one this past season, with my late fathers Pre-64 '06 : We have a bunch of bears running around our hunt club. Plus, I primarily hunt on the edge of a swamp where they frequently pass thru. Va. gives you archery, muzzleloader and 1/2 of rifle to take a bear. They all were taken while deer hunting (primarily), except the last one, which I went out of my way to look for. He was the one who bit my trailcam, trashed my 4 wheeler seat as well as two other 4 wheelers and three tree stands. Here is the perp in action on my trailcam......
