She was probably in the wheelhouse of a wolf pack. They are very hard on the coyotes.

Maybe. My place is in the Crivitz area. I have seen some wolves there over the years but not many. I did call one in while turkey hunting a few years ago.

Good to see the gophs are up and about. The prairie dogs have been up off and on all winter here. Depended how much snow was drifted over their burrows. I'm thinking I need to wander up to the 'dog town before too long and see how they're liking this warm weather... Might take a rifle or three along.

Thanks Dave!

boomwhack, there is a surprising amount of pokies up here on the prairie, big buggers too.

The rifles a 700 sps Youth, in .243. Plunked him with one 87 gr vmax, tail did the helicopter and he didn't fall. Just died right there in place. So then I handed him my AR, and a half dozen 55 gr Hornady softpoints gave the desired splatter. He shot one in damn near the exact same place last year with wadcutters out of a S&W mod 60.

Advice from the experienced:

Do NOT shoot a porcupine at close range with a shotgun. You will find out that they really can "throw" their quills.

My son's 17m2 strikes again. If you are a crow or starling it's not safe to land behind our house.
