'STUART, The usual...Castin & Blastin'. Water has been lowwwwww,so it's been more Blastin' than Castin',but that ain't exactly a bad "problem" to have. Got home yesterday,going through gear and getting ready to make a move. Water temps are still brisk,so Chrome is lazy and lockjawed early in the day,but that'll change with another rain. For what, where and how you hunt what's your favorite cartridge? Of the calibers I have the 30-06 is still a favorite. It will do everything I can do here in MT.

I'll concede the 222 Remington Magnum for the Montanans, where they apparently eat much smaller critters than Alaskans. Up here the correct answer would be 35 or 400 Whelen. Mart I'm with Mart, the 35 Whelen or my Pre64 338 are pretty much the top of my list. I do love the 270WSM and 264 Win Mag for the lighter stuff.

7mm-08(AI) - std 7-08 would be a close second. Followed by:
284 win

If any of that bunch was the only cartridge I could use, I'd be happy for Missouri whitetails and the occasion elk.
