Ditto.

Again, ditto. Unless it's a Jack and Ginger, in which case, it'd need to be Black Label.

Not bad... not bad at all... but I prefer Glenfiddich.

Oh yeah... although I do like a Tequila Sunrise made with Mescal and Sobe Orange-Carrot instead of tequila and OJ... it's simply incredible how much better it tastes... almost too good.

Brought the Ezra to elk camp last time. The fellas were drinking beer, I drank half the fifth in a dixie cup with ice. Too fast i guess, when it hit me my buddy was there with the camera, and you know all these new cameras have video too. Well that never fails to be funny every time he breaks out the camera for the last YEAR. Damn technology. I gotta get one of those cameras.

Gotta be careful these days...

Gonna try that Ezra brooks...............

Hell I don't drink much hard likker these days anyway.

No mistake that the Celtic orig. nomenclature subtended to
" Water of Life", though.

I don't see how anyone could drink Southern Comfort. That stuff tastes like cough syrup.

Of course,I know a lot of folks who like cough syrup,so maybe I'm wrong.......

WB.

I feel your pain. Yukon Jack is 100 proof cough syrup. :gag:

I prefer scotch myself.

Pinch for casual use. The Glenlivet for special occassions or when my pockets are deeper than usual.

But get tired of beer? How?

How can anyone get tired of ........ Silver Gulch Brewing

Thats correct...they burn 'em out with peet moss before using them. That's where the "smoke" taste in scotch whiskey comes from.

Nope. The smoky taste in scotch comes from the kilning of the malted barley. After it germinates, the barley is kilned to kill it and prepare it for fermenting into the beer that is later distilled. Traditionally the kilning is done over a peat fire, and the barley is exposed to the smoke. More or less exposure to the peat smoke provides for varying levels of phenols in the kilned barley. These phenols are the smoke in the bottle.

Some scotch isn't smoky at all, Glengoyne being a superb example of an unpeated malt.

And the barrels are charred internally to provide a charcoal "filter" that will remove those wierd alcohols that cause headaches... Those headaches BTW can be built overnight, but it takes years to make them go away!

Not to hi jack this thread.........., but, is this about having to throw some black pepper onto a shot of "coarse" vodka.........
Ostensibly to settle out "Fusile" ( sp?).( hey, that sounds like an actual firearm!)......Oil ?

Get you a copper kettle, get you a copper coil, fill it up with corn mash,.....never more will you toil....

lay there by the juniper, in the pale moonlight,
watch those jugs a fillin', come the clear daylight.

...............or some such.

For malt whisky we're talking about a batch loaded pot still. Hopefully the stillman was skilled and vigilant enough to keep those foreshots and feints away from the center cut of the run.

My readings have indicated they avoid most, but there are still many and that is one big benefit of the charring? I am no stillman, though oft I've craved to do a simple run...

Mathman sounds seriously conversant, with the science discussed...

the more I read this thread......that's just that much more confused I get.

Home brew really is the answer, IMHO.

The Sauza I get ain't Blue Agave'. Since some of your teams are now in the Big Twelve, you'll know what I'm talkin' about: I have trouble enough with some of the visions I get whilst not even drinkin' Tequila. You've seen the Nebraska Cornhusker Cheerleaders haven't you? Talk about corn fed...

Southern Comfort is a drink unto itself, kinda like Brandy. It's great with coke or by itself. All my people were from the South, so I guess it's a southern thing.
