I had a guy tell me a 30.06 was ballistically superior to the .270 yesterday. Okay. I didn't want to remind him what Mr. Garand wanted to chamber originally in the m1 garand.

A good 30-06 is one of my all-time favorite rounds, but, if a .270 was all I had, I wouldn't be embarassed to admit it...... wink A deer couldn't tell you which one you shot him with, and they don't get LESS dead just because you used a .270........ smirk

The 270 has always been my number 1 choice in a Big Game Round since i have been hunting. I haven't been without a 270 since 1973 and will die owning one. Love the 270 Win

I remember back over 35 years ago reading a letter to the editor in an outdoor rag where there had been a feud over the 270. I reader wrote about the number of kills and the one shot DRT he had made over the years with his 270 mm.

I know it was a misprint but it still gets a chuckle out of me when I thing about being in the woods and hearing the sound of a 270 mm dropping over the ridge behind me.

For almost 30 years i shot 57 gr of IMR 4350 and the Hornady 130 gr SP with CCI 250 Mag Primer in my Model 700 270 with zero pressure signs , but with the newer IMR 4350 have backed off to 54 gr and this gives me the same vel as before.

130gr Nosler Ballitic tips, Reloader 22. The load is written on my target above - work up, it is slightly above most books. That load clocks 3165fps out of the Ruger's 26" barrel.

It's very accurate, but rather explosive on deer. Might start loading the Accubond in the future. Or the 130 TTSX

Yeah, I've had good results with Accubonds at similar velocities.

Another boring day afield with the lowly .270 win; eliminating some south Alabama vermin with my Sako Model 75 Hunter Stainless shooting Barnes 130TTSX.

I have had as many as five .270s at one time, but am down to two right now. Two of the grandkids each have one and my hunting buddy in Colorado has the other. For years, I used the 130-grain Partitions for everything but I have been shooting ABs for the last several years. Still kills everything that I can hit with it. My pre-64 Model 70 Fwt with a Dale Goens pattern stock will be the last long gun that I let go of--probably when I die.

I have a 270 BAR that my Dad gave my Mom in 1970. If I told you how well this rifle shoots everyone here would call me a liar. Been setting in the safe since my Dad passed away. I plan to shot it every year just don't seem to make it happen. Hasbeen
