Debating on a couple of stocks here. I have a Rem SA classic edge with a Hart #3. I really like the feel and balance of the combo. I'm now piecing together a Rem LA with a Brux #3. Since I like the feel of the classic I was thinking of going that route, but for a short time I did have a hunter's edge on a Winchester that was also nice. Now I'm debating. Classic edge vs. Hunter's edge? I'm wondering about balance being roughly the same between the two and if the #3 will seem beefy with the Hunter? Let the debate begin........Now

Tough choice and I don't know that either one would be wrong. I'm a huge fan of the Classic Edge, but my next stock might be the Hunters Edge.
Blackdog1 here on the campfire has a Hunters Edge stocked .280 I think it is. His has a Lilja #3 finished at 25" and fluted. Its sure a nice rifle and I was surprised at how well it balanced. The Brux is a little beefier but should be OK, I don't know that either would be a wrong answer. Although with the Brux it screams Classic IMHO.

I've had both and prefer the Hunters Edge myself. Most of the 'fire will probably disagree.

A Hart 3 will not be too beefy. I love them both.

I like both but generally prefer the Hunter's Edge. That said, with the #3 I would probably go Classic.

Don't overlook the Manners SL ! Very comfortable stock from all shooting positions and I favor it more prone than my Edge stock. Built tough !

School me... Isn't the Hunters Edge a McMillan Rem Classic stock with Edge Technology?
What's the difference between the Hunters Edge and Classic Edge then?

What's the difference between the Hunters Edge and Classic Edge then? Classic is a specific stock pattern, so is the Hunters Edge or I think its also called the Compact?? Anyway, any stock can be made in an Edge - its the material used to make it. So you can have a Classic Edge, Hunters Edge, Mountain rifle Edge and so on. Or they can all be built in standard fill/fiberglass construction.

gled, I have both also. My Hunter's Edge (away being repainted right now) is paired with a Win 70 and Rock #2 barrel. One of my Classics is paired with a Rem 700 LA with a Rock #3, and the other is paired with a Stiller Predator SA with a Brux #3.
I would personally choose the Classic over the HE about every time, but only because I really like the Classic. I think the HE is the best stock McMillan makes for a Winchester.

Hunters Edge is equal to the Compact but in Edge fill. The Compact is same pattern but standard fill.
I have both in Edge fill and love both. If I were doing a long action with a 23" or longer barrel, I'd do the Classic. The Hunter's Edge is shorter in the forearm and looks right at home on short actions with 22" or shorter barrels. I'll post some pics of both stocks on 2 long actions in a minute.

Left is Classic Edge with a Brux #3 on a long action. Right is a Hunters Edge on a factory long action 700 Ti (mountain rifle barrel contour). Hunter's Edge on top......Classic Edge on bottom:

Thanks everyone for you input. Those pics sure help Steve.
I'll probably stick with the Classic between the two.
Tell me more about the manners. Is their wait time about the same as with McM?

Thanks. Read through 3 or 4 pages and read the last page and didn't see anything that could have been him.
