Few more groceries for the winter, very thankful for that. Montucky .308, 155 Scenar, 505 yards... This probably ain't the best idea but I wasn't about to make 2 trips for a flat-head. I'd like to give a shoutout to my buddy starsky for being my moral support center from the couch in Nebraska. Tanner

Nice elk, she'll eat much better than a bull. Good shooting.

Dibs on the rifle if you didn't sell to a hippie on the trail. Good shooting Tanner.

Nice work all around! That is a heck of a pack out. Hope it was short. Wasn't short enough...grin. About 2 miles, so it could have been a lot worse. Worst part of the whole ordeal was forgetting to pick up my piece of Lapua brass, and then not being able to track it down! Tanner

So, what did you think of the 84M Montana as a mtn hunting rifle? Pretty ideal to me!

It's an awesome little rifle. I think Kimber knocked the 84M out of the park.

Good looking pack too. Bikini frame or which one is that? Need to wear out my Timberline 2, but it has a lot of life left in it.

Congrats on the fine groceries, Tanner!
Years ago, had a grizzled old WY outfitter (my campsite neighbor) see me coming off the mountain with a similarly loaded pack. He side-stepped his quarter horse off the trail, leaned on the saddle horn as the leather protested the shift, fingered the brim of his hat back a bit, spit some tobacco juice and declared, "We've got horses for what your doin'." I laughed and apologized for not stopping to chat for fear of getting stuck....

Wish I wasn't allergic to horses!
Sako, it wasn't outlandish by any means; I think many folks overestimate the weight of elk fairly often.
I weighed my pack on a bathroom scale at home and it was a bit under 110lbs.
