Anyone going to hunt with one of the Lyman Mini Sharps in 38-55 . Just one beautiful single shot rifle. ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v378/bea175/lyman38-55_zps5bb2518f.png) A lightweight single shot in .38-55 would be cool, but that execution is not the best. I think they just directly scaled down the 1874 action. The triggers are rather awkward, and the triggerguard is too small, at least for me. Dakota also builds one, but they use a single trigger. And they cost a lot more. One guy on the single shot forum was trying to sell a modern Low Wall in 6.5x55, and that one would be a slick rifle. It may still be available.

I am thinking my old tang M77 250 AI w/ 100 gr TSX's and my Browning M71 Carbine with the 220 gr Barnes Original. Or maybe a 7 or 8 x57??? You bring the tang safety .250 I might talk you out of it.

I put it together for son #1 almost 15 years ago who, over time, has become less of a hunter so I thought I should start banging away with it. Cheap build but darn accurate.

Might have to get one as my fourth retirement gift to me.  Seriously, I will sell off a pile upon retiring and really want one as well as a full size one. Have you shot one?

Let the abuse begin.........I'm going to ask for a pass this year.
I had everything relatively set where work is concerned. The promotion has added some challenges from a scheduling perspective and I'm likely losing my boss this year. All that is irrelevant as that weekend was already booked with Connor for a camping trip to Battleship Cove. I hate missing a CF hunt, but the boy is the priority. I miss enough schit as it is......

I debated that......and am thinking next year would be about right. This is a group trip, all his friends, etc. He'll be 10 next year and, I think, ready for what our group has to offer.
