On a serious note, I would recommend hunters bring the gun that they shoot best in the dark. Most of the pigs will be spotted within an hour of sunrise/sunset...before or after.

and the 19th through 21st is a new moon, so it will be plenty dark.

If someone needs/wants to borrow one, I can bring three extra AR's over .243 caliber - a 6.8, .300 Blackout, and a .308, plus scopes with illuminated reticles. I'll have to search around for green kill flashlights, which can mount on the forend rails.

Illuminated reticles? Game lights? Do you recommend these? The ranch recommends the former.

Crap, you would have to ask that...I just packed it for another hunt...but its a high lumen # smallish hand held uber flashlight...green, for hogs, given to me by a member here...you could easily shoot a target at 200 yards with it.

There's plenty of green hog lights on Feebay and other places. Supposedly the hot ticket is a rheostat, so you gradually turn up the brightness and avoid spooking them. Of course, the only lights I've seen that have them are too damn expensive.

Come to think of it, I do have two Loopy prismatics, which also have illuminated reticles. Only 1x mag, however.

By the way, lions are a non-game animal in Texas, legal anytime. I can't imagine one being dumb enough to wander onto a ranch like this but ya never know
