So you think a regular light will work or does it need the green shade?

I wouldn't be all hung up on bringing a light
I would suggest a scoped rifle

Crap, you would have to ask that...I just packed it for another hunt...but its a high lumen # smallish hand held uber flashlight...green, for hogs, given to me by a member here...you could easily shoot a target at 200 yards with it.

Yes you have a M1A1 Socom 7.62x51mm outfitted with a Gen 3 Armasight Vulcan 3.5-7 power. grin

Hogs can't see green light. It doesn't matter how bright. Heavy reticles are a plus. White is okay as long as you don't turn it on until it's time to shoot. Typically, they race from one food source to another as soon as it gets dark enough for them to feel comfortable. Overcast days and rain make them move all day. Feral hogs are wild animals, but they have a couple of weak points:

They make a lot of noise themselves, so you can get away with making some.

They are creatures of habit, using the same areas at approximately the same time every day, unless disturbed.

And last, but not least, they are hogs...they like to eat. Corn is your friend.

Don't be fooled though. Wild hogs are way smarter than any deer, just not as unpredictable.

On Pat's field trial and advice on a Wilderness hog hunt in Tennessee, I purchased one of this company's hunting lights. Amazing product.

Anyways, for those interested in a look:

Thank you, Dan. Fantastic products. My light reaches 300 yards with ease. Thank you, Pat.

Guys don't get all hung up on lights and night vision. This is mainly a day time deal and the night time opportunities will come off the high rack driving and spot lighting which they will have the light on the high rack.
Again they can take only a few out at night and with our group size that will probably mean you will get to go out at night in the high rack once.

Ya them trucks will have a hand held light looking for eyes.
I have owned my little light for several years, so not bought just for this trip.
Hope they leave us out until dark for sure. I think this group of guides will cater to us as we need. Just have to ask.

Gordon Im sure they will.We will hunt till its to0 dark to see and be out in the A.M. in the dark before 1st light
Here is what they say about the hunt

What to expect on my hunt?

Hog hunts are 1-guide to 4- hunters and are performed from blinds (ground and elevated) overlooking feeders with some having LED night lights. Your guide will drop you off at your blind and pick you back up twice a day, morning & evening. The average shooting distance is 100 to 150 yards. The hogs we hunt range anywhere from 30 to 300 pounds, however the average hog harvested weighs between 100 to 150 pounds.

I can see I'm going to burn thru my retirement cash real quick on this hunt. My wife will be pissed. After looking at the prices of lights, I think my good flashlight and some duct tape will do.
