The only thing Bill was an aficionado at was the Money Shot paint job on a background of blue.

To steer into more calm waters here - will any of the following rifles be there?

Kimber Montana Short Action
Kimber Montana Short Action Ascent
Nula
Forbes
Remington SA Ti

Probably a long shot - but would love the opportunity for some first hand impressions.

It would make my trip if I could just fondle the Axis/Barska combo....

Sounds exotic!

Make no mistake. Piggies will line up to be shot with such a fine combo.

I'm hoping that the Krylon I ordered in Purple and Gold fleck will get in before time to leave for the hunt.

well, the 7mm-08 Montana is in pieces getting ready to go for a new barrel. There is a .257 Roberts M84M select grade here. I've done nothing with it. I was told it only shoots well with 100gr bullets. I'll tinker with it tomorrow and see if I can get it shooting well enough to bring, if you like.

I'm scratching my head about the Daniel 5.56 AR. It shoots very well, sub MOA, with 69gr & heavier, with its 1 in 7" twist. It doesn't like 60gr Partitions, nor 64gr PowerPoints. It's decent with the 65gr Sierra Gameking, but that bullet is pretty frangible. Unless I can find a tough bullet load that runs in it, I may bring the bull barrel Armalite, which has a 1 in 8" Wylde barrel.

choices, choices... smile

Nice Kimber.... Have you tried the 68gr bthp hornady's. Supposed to be a decent killer. Looks like they also make a 70 gr GMX if you can find any.

I put up a offer the other day to give away a box of CCI primers. I mistakenly listed them as Large rifle. They are actually Large Pistol primers CCI. Anybody wants them I can bring them down when I come.

Offer still open if anybody needs a ride. I will be coming down I-35 leaving KC on the 17th probably gonna stay overnight between Dallas and San Antonio and then drive out to ranch on the 18th. May make a pit stop at the Alamo as well.

Thanks - I found some 70gr TSX's tonight, and will try those.

Speaking of that, I wouldn't miss any opportunity to do just that.

I once had a herd of them show up close at the deer blind, when I wasn't expecting them, and I had a ruger #1 .30-40 with me. I finally pulled up the 1911 .45 and whacked one of them. But I'll always regret not going for a double smile

7mmM

I could use a 100 pack or two of the LP primers--sure don't need all of them, though. I use them in my Marlin 1889 38-40 and they are hard to find around here.

Thanks for the offer.

Paul
