Gunner, glad to see you made it back to the farm OK. How'd you like my mud boggin skills when we were leaving? , I just twisted that little Z71 in 4 wheel high and tried to keep, I had two thoughts: What lit a fire under those mens butts? That cat's driven over A LOT of snow and ice before. , saw the 90 degree shuffle. That thing only had 2 wheel drive. I had to keep up momentum. When I got it in the deep stuff, it was slowing down even though I had it hammered down.

He didn't miss. It's just hard to track then through a pond. Or the lightweight round didn't gitter done... First retirement project is to sketch up a scaled A5 28 bore... You can't do it.

When I got it in the deep stuff, it was slowing down even though I had it hammered down. When I drove outta there Friday night the rain had only been falling for a couple hours, and I was amazed at how greasy-treacherous the ranch road was already. Shoulda thought to tell you guys... it musta been a mess by Sunday.

I thought Bob was gonna back hand me on the way out. I kept yelling at him "don't slow down, don't stop" as we were bogging down and fish tailing. Many had left before us and it was rutted up pretty good. Glad I talked him into getting the Ram pick up with Hemi and 4 wheel drive instead of the Prius

It was pretty greasy by Sat afternoon, too. I had 4x4, of course, but it was still squirrely in the low spots, given my highway tires. I finally got annoyed & locked the rear differential, which helped somewhat.

Yes, I had an exciting time navigating through the muck and mud in that red rental Mazda Mirage. I basically tried to keep one wheel on the shoulder and my momentum up as I twisted, slid and slipped my way back from the ranch to the county gravel road. It was a challenge but that little car seemed to float through/over the mud and I got out without a lot of trouble - I was surprised.

Sounds like the ride out warranted pics. Who's got 'em? Did this year's host hunting lodge have vehicles as capable as the Wilderness Lodge's hunting buggy? This puppy was plenty capable for all that mud you speak of, although you might have to wear rain gear inside. Remember this rig? (note hunk of wood for parking brake)

Wife threw some of the pig i killed on the hunt into the crockpot with some Sweet Baby Rays and some Tex-Joy. Let it simmer all day and we had it for dinner. Pretty good stuff. Seemed a little tougher than farm raised pig but I guess that is to be expected all in all we liked it.
I've always been different with one foot over the line.....

Was only 4 inches of rain water and a little mud with a real hard base under that. Is different in a one wheel drive car though with street tires. I was in my run down old Jeep so I just drove out and wondered who was going to get stuck.. None did so I guess the group did fine.

[...] I wish someone could of seen me make the mud road run in the KIA it was epic. I will no longer worry about my wife being able to get in and out of town in bad weather she has no excuse that car will go like hell. Charles, it was very good to get to meet, talk and shoot with you. I had no doubt about your little Kia in the Mud. Small car, short wheel distance, front wheel drive is a combination many use here in Germany.

Carl:
One of the best mud and snow cars I've ever driven was a friend's 1967 VW Beetle with snow tires on the back.
I wish we could still get those.

I bet, it was, Tom, with the motor on the driving axle. They ran one of those for ages in Antarctica on the research station. The air-cooled motor helped a lot in that climate...
I liked your comment about you and Joe being still on speaking terms after a round road trip of 2400 miles. FC is just that kind of guy, is he not?
Heck, we still speak after 14 days in a two man tent, that, comfortably, only sleeps one.
