Gunner,

Looks like I have a fair load ( grin ) of bullets left over from my 450-400 double rifle days. A box of 50 300 gr Hornady FP's and 110 400 gr Hornady DGX's. Let me know if you are interested. I fly out Monday AM but should be back in a couple of weeks and can throw them in the mail then.

Howdy, Y'all,

reporting back from the old country. Had a great night out. 43° F, steady wind, half moon, high, thin cloud cover and a untilled 50 ha cornfield of last years...

Sat at dusk and two hours into the night with no movement save for a hare.

Took to my feet then looping around the stand with a half wind in my back glassing. Plan was to get across under wind and walk back to the car. On the way out already I spotted a single hog feeding. Wind was steady in my half back, angling away from the pig, so closer I stalked. At about 50 yards I took a kneeling shot (Blaser R8 .308 Win. suppressed, Hornady Monoflex Bullet @ 2550 fps). Hog went down.

:-)

Baptized on this trip was my Texas Hat

With full apologies for the poor quality pictures, but there was just no FC around to take proper ones...

I hope you know what that means, 'cause I don't! grin

OK, I'm satisfied: there are pics, so it happened. I don't know that I could have picked a better hat for you!

And it's already been baptized - way cool.

Of course, now you'll need an oversized belt buckle to go with it... In any case,

Ribs from a Crystal City pig for supper last night. Lean, mean and delicious.

Tastes different than the Tennessee pigs. I liked it better.

Ready,

Did you break-in those gutting knives on the boar? Which was the winner - white handle, or orange?

That rifle has not killed something since 1996, an Odessa hog it was. I await the photos...

If Carl is going to bust hogs at night, maybe a knife handle made out of that reflective stuff you see on runners' jackets would be the ticket. grin
