A little late with the thread this year...
#1 will be a Montana rebarrel in 260 with a Lilja 84M barrel.
#2 will be a 6x47 on an SPS with a Lilja #1 in a Ti stock.

Building this year? Nuthin... Just adding new spare parts to old spare parts. Dropped off a M70 Classic to replace the factory tube with a Brux 9 twist and the whole mess is in a Borden Rimrock. 7 rem mag and do the action truing. Hardly a "custom" but I bet it shoots. May get an Echols Legend for a 375 H&H that's sitting here. Again not a custom, just a melding of parts.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

I think my wood stocked 30-06 will be done this year.
Metal work is all done. Wood blank and barreled action in the hands of the stock maker.
All it needs is the stock and bluing. And some Talley Signature bases, screw lock or fixed rings, and a Leupold 6x42. Probably Heavy Duplex, but an LRD still a possibility.

Remington #1 Rolling Block Sporter, an original pistol grip action. Finished touching up the polishing and sent it off to Turnbull for case hardening and bluing. Wood is fiddle back California Claro in the original Creedemor pattern, Turnbull is doing the checkering also. 40-65, paper patch only, chamber reamer by the late Dan Theodore.

Started in 2014 on a LH mini Mauser in 17 Remington. Barreled by Pacnor. I have a nice semi inletted stock for it. Hope to get to it this year. Also have a Greener Martini action and a 12 bore rifled barrel that needs to be put together.
Sending a pair of Ruger Bisleys, a 357 and a 41, out to be shortened to 5.5 inches and have patridge style front sights installed.
Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.

My guns are all ready. Of course some interesting one may turn up. I still shoot the M70 I ordered new in 1957! Here is a 257 magnum that's getting attention now at the range.

Got in on the Defiance group buy so I'll have a Deviant Hunter short action in about 4 months. Have a Jewell trigger, a Benchmark stainless fluted Rem varmint contour 8.5 twist barrel and an A5 Edge stock ready to go. Wyatts extended center feed mag box and PTG floorplate will be coming. Everything will go to GAP to be turned into a 6.5 SAUM. Should come in a little under 10 lbs scoped.

I currently have a FN Model 70 coyote light 22-250 that is going to get the barrel pulled and replaced with a #2 Brux 1-8" barrel chambered in 22-250 AI and finished at 23" or 24" with a EDGE stock. No more 1-14" for me. Also plan on doing a M40 clone this year as well.

Just picked up a 700 223 action. Considering options for a 223AI.
The exchange for US$$ is much these days so buying bbls and stocks is an expensive venture. Might go slow on this one.

I have a Remington 700 off being blue printed and barreled right now for competition use.
260 Remington with .298" neck and .088" throat, 26" fluted Benchmark 1/8" #14 Heavy Palma, FTE brake, .312" pinned lug, #8 base threads, fluted 1-piece PTG bolt, a Timney Calvin Elite trigger, in an AICS AT 1.5 stock, topped with a S&B PM II 3-12x50 in a Spuhr mount.

Finishing a lower on my 270AR cat and building a 7mm Valkyrie AR. Here's the furnature that's going on the 7mm Valkyrie AR. A side charge upper is in the mail from Eisenach Arms and a billet lower from South texas Arms has already been paid for and waiting on engraving. They will be camoed the same color/pattern. The barrel for the 7mm Valkyrie AR is still about a month out. Putting one of those new two stage triggers from Ruger in it. Its ging to be scoped with a Leupold Mod AR 1 4X12 which I have waiting.

My new project is due back any time.
Blued 700 long action, converting ADL to BDL with factory parts, stock finished from a High Tech specialties blank, 26" barrel fluted to 3/4ths of an inch sort of the muzzle, factory magnum contour, 1-9" twist, 5 groove, chambered in .240 Weatherby. Optics will be a Leupold 6.5-20X AO fine duplex with CDS in Leupold dual dovetail B&R.
Depending on which trigger (Jewell HVR or Timney Calvin Elite) I put in it, I'll have to open up the trigger guard a bit for clearance.
The theme here is a lightweight antelope rig. I'll have 20 preference points for Oregon antelope next season. Time to cash 'em in.

I have a Bighorn SR2 long action and Manners EH6 stock that should be done any day now. Going to use a Bartlein 2b but currently undecided on caliber.
Not in much of a rush to get it done, so I may actually not be having it built this year. We'll see.

Cabriolet, that is some top notch wood. Always liked the tigers eye maple. Yep I like it. The blank in the duplicator is the one the stock in the vise was carved from. The carved stock has not been sanded and the light is bad so the grain does not show well. Once a good sanding is accomplished the grain really pops: I like to go down to 800 grit, one friend goes down to 1200. A good sealer and top finish and wow. The black stocked rifle is a Mark X 458, the stock is totally wrong for this rifle. I will stock it with cast off and sufficient drop to be able to "see" the iron sights. Thinking about an aperture rear sight on the receiver, with the 20 inch barrel there is not enough distance between the sights for me with the barrel mounted rear sight.

I am finally working on accuracy for the 6.5SLR. It starts with a Weatherby Mark V six lug action (26oz.). Add a Pac-Nor 26" 8"twist barrel that matches the factory contour (I forgot it weight. After waiting for the 'smith to flute it I told, "I want the barrel even if you haven't fluted it." (So it's not fluted. That would have taken another three ounces off.) Also a Proof Research stock with a Weatherby cheek piece added(22 oz.). The stock ends with a Mico-Cell 1.26" recoil pad (2.9 oz.) The trigger is a Timney (2 oz) set at 20 ounces. Because I ran out of windage adjustment with the Talley's (2.5oz) I am using Burris Signatures (5 oz) with a +20 in one side of the rear and a -20 in the other side of the rear oriented vertically in the rings. The front ring has a -10 in the bottom and a +10 in the top. With this setup it The Swarovski z5 5-25X52 (18.1 oz) is sighted in at 300 with the scope reticle centered ! How cool is that? ! One of our .com friends posted, "You just can't fix stupid !" referring to all the trouble I have the the Swarovski and still keep trying use it. It's only been back three or four times. Maybe this time. The other is waiting for a brake. It starts with a Pierce titanium acton (20oz), with a Timney attached (2 oz) set at 20 ounces. Next is a Christian Arms barrel (made from a McGowen blank) 26" 8" twist. The stock came from MPI in Portland, Oregon. They made it especially light and added the Weatherby cheek shape (20 oz). Later the 'smith added the the 1.26" Micro-Cell recoil pad and inletted the stock and bedded the action; bringing the weight to 28 ounces. I added Talley 34mm! rings and installed a Leupold VX-6 4-24X52 (22.8 0z).

I'm going to do a short barreled, mannlicher stocked 7X57 this year. I seriously doubt it'll be finished this year but I'm going to get started. What I have in mind is a 19" barrel, banded front and rear sights, custom scope bases, BRNO ZG-47 safety, Timney trigger, Weibe Orbendorf style bolt handle, Lever release floorplate and a shotgun style trigger guard. The components are: G33/40 action Krieger FTW barrel NECG banded sight bases BRNO ZG-47 safety I have a stunningly beautiful Turkish mannlicher blank for it that has excellent layout, good figure and just the right amount of fiddleback. The stock will be patterned off of a modified BRNO 22F pattern. I'm taking about half of the drop out of it and adding a mid forearm schnable along a shadow line check piece. It'll be a nice mix of old world styling with a few modern touches. Here is some of the pretty stuff.

BRNO did that to all the G33/40's. It was done to reduce weight. The G33/40 was designed as a mountain carbine and is of the nicest Mil-Surp's to come out of that war.
They fetch mega bucks in original condition these days.

I think that the G33-40 carbines were actually made in Germany; the Brno production were VZ-33s. In any case, as always, Terry's concepts and taste in fine rifles is beyond exquisite and I slaver over every one he shows us. I have a Brno ZG polished receiver action, 3-pos. installed and may buy a Dressels trigger for this one; it will get a Benchmark or Jury sts tube, 9,3x62 at 21" and REcknagel irons, Talley QDs and a MPI handle. It is to be my backpacking rifle and will be Cerakoted. I have coming a minty Parker-Hale Hussar, .308NM, will strip for the factory modded short mag. action and get a STS .338 tube, sights and mounts as above and maybe a Canadian Wildcat carbon stock. This, will be my last .338WM, a dream rifle for 30+ years and will be MY GUN...... Then, I still have two Brno 21H actions to build on and am not certain what to do.

The G33/40 was an (occupied) BRNO product. I promise Two 21H actions to build on. That would be a nice problem to have.

Not a build exactly, but I am rebarreling a minty Ruger Tang Safety. It will be rebarreled to a 7x64mm Brenneke. The stock is nicely grained, but typically Ruger portly. So I will be slimming it down a fair bit, and the new giving it a refinish.

Guys, I have a project ongoing with a 09 Argentine action that Reto Buehler worked over for me. He fitted the Swift/Blackburn bottom metal and trigger, added a new bolt handle, made the custom bases for Talley rings, had the action re-heat-treated, fitted a Lothar Walther barrel, and chambered it for the 9.3x64 Brenneke cartridge, worked over the feeding, and polished the action. He then shipped the metal to Gary Goudy to whittle out a stock from a very nice but relatively plain stick of European Circassian walnut that I provided. I'll provide photos of the finished rifle when I get it back. Hopefully, that will be in time for Christmas. This is the 09 action that I sent to Reto. After Reto finished with it. The stick of Circassian I'm using. Gary Goudy stock in progress.

Haven't decided exactly as yet, but most likely I'll use a Leupold VX-3 1.75-6x33. I'm very fond of that scope these days. Unfortunately, scope manufacturers these days make their scopes with tubes so short that without resorting to offset rings, its getting difficult to mount the scope that I really want to use and I'm finding more and more frequently that I have to mount a scope that will fit rather than what I really want. I'll keep you guys posted when Gary finishes with the rifle.

Guys, To add to what I've already submitted on my in-progress 9.3x64 Brenneke based on a 09 Argentine model 98, I received a few photos this morning from Gary Goudy. The stock, with the exception of checkering, is now done. Checkering should be finished next month sometime. See what you think. TT

I got a Krieger 300WinMag barrel for $103 off ebay that someone must have Paid Krieger $450 for it and then cut 1/2-24 threads on the muzzle. Muzzle threads are normally 1/2-28 or 5/8-24, so that mistake must be why they scrapped the barrel. I can make muzzle breaks for covers to fit 1/2-24, but I did not have a post 64 M70 action lying around to fit the breech threads. I do have Mosin Nagant actions. So I cut the threads for that. The action is a 1939 that I got for $80 at a gunshow in 2006. It had a rotten stock and barrel, but the action, being pre WWII, has an inner stop ring, like a 98 Mauser. The 300 Win Mag is too long for the acton. I can get it to feed by opening and lengthening the magazine, but it will not eject unfired ammo. I cannot open the ejection port as both the front and rear are camming surfaces for the bolt. So I drill a hole in the rear of the receiver and make an ejector over ride button. It is a little cumbersome, but I can unload the gun after I do this mod. I use ATI scope mounts with two 10-32 holes, but then I make a third hole and countersink. The mount is designed for drilling and tapping without pulling the barrel. I pull the barrel, so I have have another screw supporting the cantilevered Aluminum Weaver mount. You can see a hole I have drilled and tapped into the receiver right over the barrel threads. These can be had for $30 delivered if you can find the offered without the hoakie screw on bolt handle: http://www.amazon.com/Mosin-Nagant-Scope-Mount-5-10-2281/dp/B005MR66WC/It looks like my brother TIG welded the bolt for me. Maybe the late Randy Ketchum. My TIG welding is not good enough yet for bolt handles. Timney triggers for Mosin Nagant rifles are ~ $100. Not only are they adjustable down to 2 pounds, but they provide a safety. After 120 years, that rifle design finally got a decent safety:) I got the rosewood tip stock off ebay for $93 in 2005. The front pillar I designed also acts as more recoil lug for the 300WinMag. I load the 300WinMag hotter than published loads, and it kicks hard.
There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self. -Ernest Hemingway The man who makes no mistakes does not usually make anything.-- Edward John Phelps

I've gots me a 6.5x284 being finished up. Dan Coffin did the work and his reamer allows either the NORMA or the Win variety to be used.
Rem 700 ADL long action-older one with the "B" prefix. McMillan Alaska Wilderness Rifle takeoff 26" Lilja 1/8 Timney trigger set at 2.5lb Talley lows Leupy 6X42 FX3 with dotz
Will be trying the bergers, SSTs, AMAXs and Sierras to see what works best. Got Laupua brass and a micro adjust Redding die set. We'll see if I like the 26" barrel or not. I'll lop a few inches off if I don't think it is worth it.

Yep, I noticed the same myself. I ordered the 84M Lilja barrel that should be here in August and the 6x47L reamer that should be here in four weeks or less. I am hoping to have the 6x47 at the range in six weeks or so. Les, I have never been a fan of that style camo but your rifle might change my mind. Are you planning to coat the barreled action one color?

I wasn't sure about the camo either but I wanted something different hence the Mashburn chamber. The plan is to coat everything in Cerakote Armor Black. It is the most matte finish they offer IMO. This thing is going to see lots of rounds so I'll most likely wait to coat it until I need to set the barrel back. Right now I'm digging it as is.

Bob, Nice rifle!
I just picked up a McMillan KS Edge off the classifieds. Have a 1973 Rem 700 in 25-06 with sporter barrel I bought as a donor. Haven't shot it yet... Thinking a Bartlein 2b or Brux 2 or 3 contour, 7mm 9 twist to build a 280 or 280 AI. I currently have a Brux #2 6.5mm 8 twist, maybe a 6.5-06?
Does a Brux #3 fit in a stock with a Rem sporter barrel channel?

I've got a stainless SA 700 trued by Beanland at another 'smith having three Bartlein 2B barrels fitted right now.
8" twist 22-250 8" twist 6.5x47 Lapua 10" twist .308.
Going in an LVSF stock.
John Done. Had it in the LVSF stock for a while, but it now resides in the Manners EH3. Has the 6.5x47 Lapua barrel on it now but the 22-250 barrel and .308 barrel are finished and ready to switch out when I tire of playing with the 6.5. John

I'm always trying to build ones that are not quite the norm. Not to far off base, but never-the-less, different. Such as a few years back I rebarreled a Kimber Montana to 17 Rem. because they didn't offer a Montana in that caliber and its what I wanted. This year I'm doing a couple of builds. The first one is a Kimber Classic that is being rebarreled to 243. It's a Classic in 7mm08 that shop quite well, but I have another one in that caliber and nothing in 243. Lilja chrome moly barrel using the 84M contour and blued to match the action. While its down everything will be trued up if needed. The second one is a Kimber Classic Select in 7mm08 that I am restocking in English Walnut. This one is going to take awhile to finish. The inletting is almost finished. Not quite as nice as some of the others I've seen in this thread, but it is different.....kind of.

I have built an excellent battery of guns over the last half century. I shoot them frequently and hunt with them also. Of late I have favored a well made custom 30-06 with an octagon barrel on a Mauser that now has a Dakota safety and a good bolt handle. I will shoot it again this week along with other rifles that include a 7mm WSM in a Kimber.

Metal fit, finish and stock inlet by Mark Penrod, Stock texture and paint by your's truly... 243 Ackley Improved in a 18" 7.5 twist Krieger that ended up 1.015 at the muzzle... PT&G shifter I did the rework on the trigger shoe by taking out most of the curve of the factory shoe. Sear engagement surfaces were polished and trued. I finished the McMillan stock with a texture coat and a flat black coat of Alumahyde II. A Ken Farrel 10MOA base will hold the optic. The optic for now is a Burris but that's only until Leupold gets my custom shop order processed.... As she sits the scale says 9#15oz.... CR

I got this 6mm Rem ready to shoot last night. No paint, polish, or bluing yet. If it does not shoot well, it will not get any. The only things unusual about this build are: 1) The scope was centered ~20 moa low. That is what most snipers want, but not me. 19 moa = 19 minutes of angle = 19/60 of a degree. sin [19/60] = 0.0055 The front and rear scope mounts are 5" apart. [.0055] [5"] = 0.028" mounts out of level I cut 0.028" off the bottom of the rear scope base [Weaver #45] and then a centered scope was bore sighted. 2) I combined the recoil lug with the front pillar. The clamping force of the forward action screw is ONLY opposed through the bottom of the Mauser recoil lug. $125 Douglas barrel blank Chrome moly 27" #3 taper 6mm 12" twist 6 groove Ebay $45 1903 Turkish Mauser 8x57mm Century Arms $92 Boyds laminated painted stock pro Varmint 1903 Turkish Mauser $49 Bolt trigger with safety $50 Bolt handle TIG welding and extension the late Randy Ketchum $12 Weaver grand slam S46 steel scope base Midway $12 Weaver grand slam S45 steel scope base Midway modified to 1" diam bottom and thinner by 0.028" $60 Karsten's Custom Cheek Rest A-Model Tactical Works ---------------------------- $445 total for basic rifle $40 SWFA SS-Tac 30mm / 1" Rings LOW Ebay $1200 USO 1.8-10x37 Ergo Upgrade, used off SH forum $26 KMW Pod-Loc Brownells $100 Harris Engineering S-BR Hinged Base 6 - 9-Inch BiPod Amazon $35 Holland field bag from Dog Gone good bags ------------------------ $1401 in loosely attached accessories [that will move on, if it does not shoot well] -------------- 13 pounds with accessories

Slowly putting the parts together for a .404 Jeff Win 70. Have acquired a 300Rum barreled action, an Echols Legend stock with mag fill, swivel studs and recoil pad. Still need to acquire a barrel, bottom metal (thinking Sunny Hill), and a scope. Then it will be time for barrel installation, painting and stock fitting... Thinking of having the stock dipped in a wood finish after everything else is done, as Utah708 did in this thread: http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/5896609/7

Travis Was a sportered rifle- drilled/tapped, barrel cut to 18' and suppressor threaded. Stock was a 70's Monte Carlo. Found a '42 dated barrel for $50 from my local gunsmith, got the metal and woods from Numrich. Need a Lyman Alaskan now!

I just about have all of the parts for this years project. I am waiting on the barrel. At the end of the day it will be a 338/06. I am thinking it will need some Nosler 180 gr. Accubonds.

K22, Great pics! I am sending those to non gun woodworking buddies. How are you inletting? With candle smoke on the barrelled action? When I inlet a stock, I put it on the mill and make some clearance, and then later pillars for 3 point support to counter action screw clamping force.

When I inlet a stock, I put it on the mill and make some clearance, and then later pillars for 3 point support to counter action screw clamping force. I'm using inletting black on the receiver/barrel. We start by measuring the action/barrel, then putting it in a Mill (CNC) and having it cut a very minimum inlet. Then I do the rest by hand. Scrappers, chisels, sand paper, ect. I then add the pillars. After I shape it more I will remove more wood in the action inlet and bed it. Some current pictures.

StrayDog: Fun gun. I bought it from my old buddy RinB who assembled the barreled action and trigger. 24 hours later it was shipped to Alex and that same day DArcy shipped me a stock. It may be the fastest custom of all times for me. I hear Benchmark barrels are the nuts!

I will be building up my cash account. Took delivery on two full customs last year as well as some very nice optics. That all set me back about $10,000.
Time to refill the coffer.

I am building a 6.5-06 today. I cut the chamber and crown last night by altering drill, boring bar, and reamer in 1/2" steps. I cut an inch off each end of the barrel. 24" barrel now. *Dumoulin Mauser action [front and rear rings flat topped] *Shilen select match #3 taper 8" twist ratchet stainless barrel. *Starting to fit it in a Boyd's pro varmint stock. *I am going to make a combination front pillar / recoil lug milled out from a block of Aluminum alloy, and rear pillar from 6061 round stock. I will glass bed them into the stock with them pre compressed with the action screws. The clamping force of the front action screw will be opposed only by the bottom of the recoil lug, not the receiver flat bottom and first inch of barrel. This will be a low compliance path for the rifling twist torque reaction to couple to the stock mass without placing a lengthwise bind on the action. *I made the flat bottom scope bases from Weaver steel #46 and #54 by milling the undersides flat. The fixture was two modified V blocks held in the mill vise.

Reamer arrived today, my pile of junk for the 6x47L, if this one shoots the Montana may be chambered in 6.5x47L instead of 260.

Milling the front pillar / recoil lug from a block of Aluminum. This is interesting. Can you tell us more about this? Synthetic or wood stock?

This is interesting. Can you tell us more about this? Synthetic or wood stock? It is going into a Boyd's pro varmint, which is a laminated wood painted black stock. http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/FindA...&Action=1G&Shape=1G&Finish=2I will paint over the black paint with Brownells Aluma hyde II "dessert tan" color: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-t...rosol-paints/aluma-hyde-ii-prod1117.aspxI already have the stock inletted for the barreled action for a more conventional front pillar [ 0.625" diameter, 0.603" length, 0.062" wall tube] with clearance with six degrees of freedom between stock and barrelled action: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_degrees_of_freedomToday I must cut more off the front pillar / recoil lug and more from the stock to make them fit together before glassing the pillars pre compressed into the stock with devcon steel putty.

Guys, To follow on with progress photos on my 2015 project, I received photos this morning from Gary Goudy of the checkering on the 09 Argentine 9.3x64 Brenneke rifle. Gary still has to rub some oil into the checkering and the stock will be finished. Gary likes to photograph his checkering before adding the finish to the pattern. The metalwork is out for a rust blue job. If all goes well, I'll probably use the rifle on a bison hunt in September.

I still need to chamfer the breech, mount a scope, and load some 6.5-06 ammo. If it shoots, it gets painted.

I have a .224TTH (.22-6mm) made up on an Arisaka Type 38 action, waiting for CeraKote.
Also, a .375 Whelen Improved on an Erfurt Mauser and a .450 Alaskan on a Siamese Mauser.
All are getting laminated stocks, scopes for the first two, and a Redfield peep for the .450 Alaskan.

I am in the Seattle area. I generally hate Boyd's for off the shelf, but for something to hew and hack and paint, their laminated wood is as good as anybody's.
I used to go to the Gunshows in Puyallup and buy more gun projects than I will ever finish. But I have not been since initiative 594 kicked in in December. Maybe I will go Saturday and buy another project and pay the $10 background check fee.

Took delivery yesterday on the completed 2015 project. To bring everyone up to speed, it started as a military 1909 Argentine 98 Mauser action, a Lothar Walther 9.3 mm barrel, a Dakota 3-position safety, Dakota grip cap and sling swivel bases, red Pachmayr pad and bottom metal and trigger from Blackburn /Swift. All that was delivered to Reto Buehler who turned those parts into a barreled action. He added a new bolt knob which he styled and checkered and shop made custom scope mount bases for Talley rings. While doing the metalwork, he decided that the action was a bit softer than he wanted so sent it out for re-heat treatment. When Reto finished getting the metal functioning like a sewing machine, he sent the barreled action to Gary Goudy to stock. I had already sent a stick of good, but not flashy, Circassian walnut for him to use for the stock. He did the checkering while the metal was out for George Komadina's fine slow rust blue jobs. Remaining to be done is to decided on and mount an appropriate scope and do the load workup for it. Hopefully, that will all be done in time to use it on a big bull bison next month. Great work by all the craftsmen. TT

TS, Hi. My name is George and I have gun envy. Fortunately for me age has mitigated the response of earlier decades.
While I'm mostly content to write emails now and the occasional letter, it's good to know there are some people who will write poetry.

George,
I know all about gun envy, I've been so afflicted all of my life. I know well about old age too; if I make it until Monday, I will be 77 and I'm still afflicted. The 9.3x64, good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, will be my next to last custom. I have one more barreled action and a superbly figured stick of California English awaiting Gary's wizardry with a stick of walnut. I locked in a spot on his 2016 schedule awhile back and gave him the blank about three years ago. That one will be my last. Since Gary is, I believe, a year older than me, perhaps we'll quit together -- Nah, not Gary!
It has been a fantastic rodeo and I wouldn't trade with anyone. However, when that final custom is done, scoped, and sighted in, I'll start on the reverse, selling them off so my poor wife won't be stuck with them and that task. Isn't the term Gun Nut really apt?

Sorry, I missed your question. No, I've not yet decided on a scope. I'm leaning heavily toward a Leupold 1.75-6, but not really sure yet. I'll keep you posted.

Ok.
Just my .02 worth, but a Leupold 1.75x-6x would be an excellent choice.

1903 Turk Mauser I am converting to 6mmRem. The TIG welded bolt handle had some weld in the way of closing the bolt, so I just milled out. I had to cut on the stock so the bolt will close. I have less than 2 months before I hunt with it.

Just picked up a Whitworth Mauser action that will become a .404 Jeffery. Hope to have it ready to go by early next year. Have a barrel in hand, and am looking for a stock. Will post some pictures as the work progresses.

1. CZ 453 - getting a full overhaul of the finest wood stock I have seen on a CZ rifle. - Rustblueing the barreld action - Installing a S&B 3-12x50 PMII in 34mm Talley rings. It fits with 2-3 mm barrel clarence, and should give enough klicks to 300meters.
2. Husqvarna 640 - Heavy 6,5x55 barrel - McMillan McHale stock - Alaska Arms trigger - S&B 10x42 PMII in 30mm Talley rings
3. BRNO ZG-47 - Turning 30-06 barrel down to Featherweight contour - Hightech stock, brown with red pad - Alaska Arms Rings, with Leupolds 6x42, and a 2,5x20 as back-up instead of sights - Cerakoted Midnight Blue

I've finished a Remington 700 Mountain rifle that was a 30-06 that I just swapped out for a Pac-Nor Super Match 338-06 AI. Also a Kimber Montana that started life as a 325 WSM that I had rebarreled to a 7mm WSM 1-9" twist Pac-Nor. Both just arrived right before I had to go back to work all I've had time to do was assemble em. I'll throw a scope on both when I get home and see how they shoot.
I've also got an Kimber 84M that I'm having rebarreled to a 22-250AI and an 84L that started out as a 270 and is being rebarreled to 6-06 AI. Both will have 22" 1-8" twist Lilja barrels. Southern precision is doing the work on both of these rifles, I'm hoping they show up soon also. All the Montana's were built around the 75,105, and 162 A-max, the 700 was built around the 250 grain Scenar. All barrels are OEM contour.

Finally got to shoot my Kimber 84M that I had rebarreled with an 8" Hart into a 7mm-08AI. Fire formin loadings were impressively accurate, looking forward to getting some AI loads w/ the 150 ScenarL's. Going to try to kill a mule deer with it in a few months.

Got a std. 223 done this year. Gun is enroute to me now from a friend who built it for me. He emailed pics of gun and first group. Ammo was stuff he had from another rifle. I'm not disappointed! New 700 BDL action, squared up. Brux #2 22" 1:8" bbl, Bansner High Tech stock, pillar bedded.

Thanks ... I was going to go AI on this one. Flip/flopped back and forth. Finally sold that AI dies on CGN this week. I like those High Tech stocks, esp with the price of McMillans in Canada these days.

Very nice 223 . I really like the feel of the hightech/bannister as well. Thinking about buying a blank for an old ruger round top m77. Did I mention very nice rifle.

Here is the fore end pattern. There's a lot of work remaining... mostly touch-up bluing and hand rubbing finish into the stock. However, I was so happy to get the stock back that I had to put the gun together and get out the camera. Nice wood, Eh? Dick Wright

Here, finally, is the finished rifle. I just got the parts back that were out for bluing and put it together yesterday. Scope to be added and it will be ready to shoot. This is a dual-purpose rifle and will be used for hunting and, also, shooting in local rimfire benchrest matches. The scope is a Weaver 4 X 16X with a competition dot which is suitable for both.

Not quite done, but it's ready for deer season. Got the idea to build a 270 when I noticed that every time an ammo scare comes about, 270 ammo is still obtainable (probably thanks to ingwe). Specs: - Rem 700 ADL ($300 new from Academy) - Manners EH6 - Gretan firing pan and shroud - PTG Aluminum Trigger Guard - Bolt handle by Phoenix Custom Rifle - Bolt fluted by Long Rifles Inc - DNZ Game Reaper mounts Still to do: - Swap the Ziess Conquest to a lighter weight scope (probably Leupold) - Have rifle cerakoted (will happen after deer season) Currently sits at 7 lbs 10 oz with scope.
If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ...
