Roy you wouldn't have a serviceable butt stock w/checkering would you? Something w/maybe a fixable crack or something that needs refinishing. powdr

powdr, I have a sanded one that's undersized and looks like crap if that's what you're after. It could be used. Not cutting any others loose right now, I'm in the middle of building a few.

I'd sure like a lead on a 1917 Savage 380 Barrel. Anyone?

Hi all
I found this forum and site while searching for parts for a Savage 1899 22hp takedown. I have one that was my Dad's, but as far as I know he never had the forearm for it. I am trying to locate one so I can give the gun to my son in working condition. If anyone has one, or knows of a source, I'd be most grateful for any leads.
Thanks

TD forearms show up on ebay occasionally. They don't usually have the hardware which can get kind of spendy. Plus you need to know whether the rifle is pre-1920 or post 1920. Lightweight or medium weight barrel (pre-1926 or post-1926, roughly). A serial number will help to identify these characteristics. David

David Thanks, I have the serial number somewhere, the gun is with my son in NY. Big problem is going to be the lack of hardware, as noted. I'm currently away from home, so can't look up the serial number for a few more days. I'll try to keep an eye on e-bay as well.

New to the Savage club here, got hold of a 1914 1899 f carbine in 3030, upon inspection and battling to get the stock off turns out the trigger spring is broke in half and will only cock when lever is operated upside down. Any ideas where to start looking? Thanks

David Well, if the serial number search I just did is correct, the gun was made in 1914. Serial number 1573xx.

Okay, can't find the bloody thing so wife probably picked it up and put it who knows where.
Need a stock bolt for a very early 1899. It's for my trapper, so just need one that works and nothing fancy or even original for that matter.
PM me if you happen to have a junker laying around. Thanks..

Well, ok, is it the long bolt or the short bolt. Got both. Let me know the length and I'll let you know if I've got one. As far as I know, which isn't very far, there are only two stock bolt lengths.

So I need to go check the length of the bolt that I don't have? umm... I'll go check an earlier gun, I presume they'll be the same.

Do you have the stock? If so measure the length of the hole. Come on Rory, this ain't rocket science. To measure the length from where the head of the bolt sits to where it comes out of the stock. just run something with a bigger diameter than the bolt shank from the butt end to block the hole and run a cleaning rod from the action end. Mark the cleaning rod where the wood ends on the action end. Close enough to determine the length of the bolt. If that's too hard or you don't have the stock just ask and I'll send you one of each length. You can pay me for the one that works and send the other one back. If you don't presently have a stock I got all the time in the world to wait for you to get one and figure out which bolt works. I'll be retired for the rest of my life.
