Since Reed Enterprises decided to ban all black guns & high capacity clips at the show,I know alot of vendors or now backing out to stand up for the 2nd amendment . I'm more curious to who on this site is not going to attend as well.
I'm not attending
im not attending.....pay no attention to my location, it has nothing to do with the situation whistle
First time since I've been able to walk that I will not be attending the sports show on my birthday.

I'm not attending. I never have and doubt I ever will.

Maybe you should rephrase your question?
Here is the most up to date list of the vendors who have joined the boycott. They took a large hit money wise for doing this, Reed is not giving there money back, plus the sales that they lose. So please support them if you feel inclined.

Reed has long been a major source of irritation for vendors and show goers alike. It's just that many vendors put up with their chit all these years, because they had to in order to get a spot. All bets are off for this one.

BTW, don't be surprised when several more "big hitters" that have already bailed, like Cabela's and celebrities like Shockey, are joined via announcements of more desertions over the next day or two. Desertions are running far above what has been reported in the media thus far.

Reed has already shown their stupidity in bannning weapons and other heavy handed moves over the years, now they'll look even more incompetent this year when this ESOS "dust" settles.

This show has always suffered from the boobs that Reed put in charge of it, although Ed Several was a huge improvement over his predecessor and Chris O'Hara is a slight improvement over Ed. But the show improved and grew despite them, not because of them.

Good on 'em!

I see more than a couple places that already get my money.

I'll be sure to thank them and let them know why they continue to get my money next time I order.

Not me,neighbor even bought us advance tickets online.
Burned them Sat.night w/ a few shots and beers.
WOW - that should make a real dent, and create some aftershocks as well. Thanks for posting. Seems like chicken**** for Reed to not refund their fees after he changed the terms for the show. You bet, they will get my support where I can do so.
I planned on going this year. NOT anymore!
Pretty good list right there! Certainly a group of folks to support who are taking a major hit for standing on principle. Pretty rare, anymore.

Any lists of those who support the anti's stance & the show promoters? They should take a hit via boycott & negative contact, big time. "Zumbo" the CSMFs..
I personally represent several companies as FieldStaff or ProStaff, and none of them will be attending.

It was a major loss of funds for some companies, but I'm very excited to see the unity and a statement that sends a loud and clear message to those that would violate or 2nd amendment.

The loss of booth reservation funds and revenue generated from the show did not trump these companies from making their stand! That financial loss is not to be taken lightly.

I fully support these comapanies, and hope that Americans will support the companies and personalities that have boycotted the show to show support for freedom! Hopefully, those involved in the outdoors will buy their products from the companies that had the guts to make a stand. wink
There is a list of people who so far have refused to pull out. But, I won't post it as it is still early, and they may change their minds. The two remaining major sponsors are The Outdoor Channel, and Progressive insurance ( Cabelas was the third but pulled sponsorship very early on). Dicks is also not pulling out ( i don't mind throwing them under the bus).
Progressive is owned by soros so they will be gleeful to ban guns.
I would read my contract and see, if there was a change you could get your money back for booth space. The second hit they will take is lower attendance.

Am I the only one who upon reading this, reverts back to when I was 15?

I chuckled a LOT when I read this.
Best part of the winter is the days I spend at that show, we would fly back pick up a couple my wifes nephews and her niece and head down..but not this year.

Then you need to visit the Halfway Inn... Skinny Dicks Halfway Inn, that is...

http://www.skinnydicksak.com/
Now they are giving away free parking...LOL!
I've never been to this show and now I never will.

When the show does take place, would someone please post a list of those show supporters/attendees who [will]
A)showed up
B)won't get my (or anyone else' for that matter) business
C)be joining an unemployed line in the near future.

Someone else needs to take their place. Before they just change their name.

Yep, a bit of a giggle as well. I can't stand Dicks' (giggle some more). As my dad would say,"their idea of a sporting goods store is volley ball nets and nut cups, no sense wasting my time here."
Alan Probst has announced he will NOT be dropping out of the show.

"....If you disagree with my stance or if you want to barrage me, boycott me or claim that I am against the 2nd Amendment, that is your right but I will sleep well with my decision as I will be doing what is necessary to continue the education of our youth at this show and beyond."
Just read through some of the exhibitors listed.Ted Nugent is an exhibitor, surprised he hasn't started wailing on them yet. Sure hope this withers up into a huge empty barn full of jerky booths.
He has.

For what it's worth, there is no chance either Chris O'hara or Ed Several made this decision. They have been promoting the presence of "tactical" weapons as an attraction to the show. This decision was made either at the national headquarters of Reed Expositions in Norwalk, Connecticut, or at their world headquarters in England.

RUGER Withdraws from The ESOS

Ruger has decided not to attend the upcoming Eastern Sports Show. We are very frustrated by Reed Exhibitions foolish decision to ban the display of modern sporting rifles.

We feel that, as one of Americas firearms manufacturers, we must withdraw from the show as a commitment to the 2nd Amendment rights of our customers.

Nonetheless, we are very disappointed not to be attending the Eastern Sports Show. We were looking forward to attending the show for the first time this year and meeting and supporting the 200,000+ sportsmen and women that attend this great celebration of the outdoors.

We hope the show will be successful for the many outfitters and other vendors who depend on the show for their annual business.

Didn't mean to imply that they did. We know this BS decision came from above them both. The show had actually been heading in the right direction in the opinion of many, prior to this boondoggle. So I didn't intend to demean either of them. Well not too much, anyway? ;O)

I can't recall the name of the little loud-mouthed twerp that preceeded Ed, but that guy got on everyone's nerves when he ran the show.

ba da bing grin
I am pulling all my exhibits.
We always go and it is a day the kids look forward to. They were upset but totally in agreement when I said why we weren't going. Guess we will go to cabela's instead and hit some gun shops between here and there.
As far as I can determine, there are three "major" sponsors remaining: Outdoor channel, Progressive Ins. and Comcast?
Not going this year. Told my 10 year old son about the black rifle ban and he said, cool I don't want to go either if that's how they feel about my AR15.

Progressive? LOL! I can't believe they'd get within 10 miles of a sports show. Their Chairman and former CEO, Peter Lewis, is one of the biggest commies around! He gave matching donations to MoveOn.org with Soros.

But you know there is no way in Hell they are going to dump the show, the black gun prohibition was probably Lewis' idea in the first place!
That list of vendors not going is getting pretty large. If the attendence boycott is as large it will be a big financial hit.
If a sticky of all venders that are attending so they can be boycotted would go along way showing our stand.

Hit them in the wallet where it will hurt the most.
I feel bad for the vendors especially the mom and pop retailers who really cant afford to boycott with the $ that they have put up there are a lot of people who rely on this for a living so not just the show people are getting hurt here
Have friends who sell alot of their country artwork at this show in the past, they will be out $$$ this year.
WOW...this is getting big.

The biggest sportsman show on the east coast is going to get blanked this year.

If this boycott doesn't work, I'll be shocked.
The show's website shows all the vendors/celebs as coming, shouldnt they remove the names? isnt that false advertising to list groups that have pulled?
The outdoor Channel just announced they are out as a major sponsor

Where'd you see that at? I haven't been able to verify it yet...that should be the final coffin nail if it happens.
The wealthy sponsored folks and corporate types pulling out will not be the ones hurt, it is the smaller independant folks who will take the hit. And the local economy which does a big part of its annual business during the timeframe.

Big names will simply enjoy a couple of days off doing whatever they want to. I fail to see how a boycott of the show will send the intended message to the promoter except possibly for lower ticket sales at the gate. Seems this may only hurt the little guy in the industry that lives for this show.
It just disapeared from there website
LINK- scroll down to the bottom to see sponsors

They updated their sponsor list...the Outdoor Channel was listed earlier today....Progressive and Comcast is all that's left.

Understood. They, IMO have more to lose than the corporate types. I hate to see them take the punch. Hope someone steps in and plans a show to make up for the lost opportunity.
Let's not forget that a whole bunch.of little guys are also boycotting it. I think between the celebs and vendors/sponsors the boycot list is close to 200 isn't it
Its a shame democrats have to piss on the parade. Another 10 million NRA members would have prevented this.
It will be difficult at times, but it is necessary, and it would be great if it became more widespread.
I agree, the small guys have more to lose and am sorry for them.

But Washington only follows the money and they are certainly taking note that the corporate shooting industry isn't rolling over to put profits before principle.

It's a big deal.
It is the small guy, as each individual gun owner is, that is "winning" here, if anyone is.
Just got an e-mail from NWTF sayin they're out too.
Too bad there can't be another venue in town to setup the show and let reed really feel the bite.....as people pile into the other show and they can't give away free flo tee shirts.
Kudos to those not attending. Nice work.

1. Some affected people need to get some good attorneys looking into the situation to see if they have grounds for a class-action lawsuit against the group that is running the show. I wonder about how changing the "rules" at this late date and then not refunding registration fees would fare against contract law. Another course of action would be to try to get an injunction to prevent the company running the show from prohibiting AR-15s and associated equipment. I don't think legal action is often the right path, but in this situation, with people's livelihoods being affected by a bait-and-switch, legal action might be what's needed.

2. Clearly there needs to be an alternative. I know the show starts in less than two weeks, but perhaps somebody could secure a suitable location in/around Harrisburg for the smaller businesses that might be harmed without a suitable show to exhibit at.

People can't cave to the leftists running the show. That sends the wrong message. Vendors should boycott and so should potential attendees. The place should be a ghost town unless something changes.

Might be a good time for anyone who bought tickets with a credit card online to try to dispute the charges ASAP. Bet a bunch of folks bought them online.. Just a thunk.

Call it false advertising by the promoter to justify it to the CC company since so many booths will be vacant now, due to the unacceptable actions by the promoters. Class action suit, some damn thing. Make it hurt. If nothing else it will be a PITA for them to fight the disputes & cost them time, if nothing else. They need to pay, one way or the other. Get creative & stay mad. Burn. Them. Down.

"All that hate's gonna burn you up, kid..." "Keeps me warm." -Red Dawn smile
Yep, got a call this morning that NWTF and PA/NWTF were issuing a release later today.

http://app.streamsend.com/s/1/wKBz/DlQ0gPp/78g49

Supposedly Ruger and S&W have also sent notice that they're out?
Sounds like a unanimous.....GFY!
With all the talk about the bad this is doing how about a little good news. Look at how everyone is coming together! Bowhunters, rifle hunters, gun clubs and dealers, conservation groups, mom and pop shops, celebrities and even the big boys like Cabelas all united instead of the usual " it's not me so why worry". I can only hope this can continue on with the next battle. As the President of the Eastern Chapter of the Wild Sheep Foundation I will tell you it was a very long weekend. Not deciding what was right or wrong (we knew that already) but deciding to give up what was a guaranteed number of raffle ticket sales and the exposure we get for our show held in Lancaster Pa the weekend following Harrisburg. I am sure every single vendor went through the same thing. In the end it was unanimous that we do what we felt was right. Below is a plan we put forth to try and promote what we chose as an alternative.

The Eastern Chapter of the Wild Sheep Foundation will hold its 22nd Annual Hunting and Outdoor Expo February 15-17 at the Lancaster County Convention Center in Lancaster, PA. In recognition of those Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show exhibitors who chose to withdraw from the show and stand up for our 2nd Amendment freedoms, we have reduced our booth prices to our Early Bird rates (which expired in August) and are including 1 full registration to our event. Many exhibitors like to maintain contact with their east coast clients through the Harrisburg show and we hope this offer will allow you that opportunity while showing your support for an organization that shares your views. Additionally, we will offer a $10 dollar, one year membership ($35 value) to new members of the Eastern Chapter of the Wild Sheep Foundation and will include a free weekend show pass.

For memberships contact our Chapter Office at [email protected] or (717)435-8023.

For exhibitors contact Jim Wilson at [email protected] or (908)246-5661 or Mike Keaty at [email protected]

Thanks for your support!
The "Small guys" are pulling out too!

I have had conversations with several today, and they are making it clear that it may hurt their nusinesses, but they are clear with the message they send saying that they are joining to ranks of the celebs and big companies pulling up stakes.

Also, they don't want to "be there" when the list of those still exhibiting at that show is published. The money lost would be more if they attend than not attend. Sound thinking in my book!

That's a great offer, too bad the venue is not nearly big enough to take all the cancelling vendors in though.

Progressive is a signature outfit to the Sport, Boat and Vacation Show here in Louisville next week, too.

First time, though, that they've been a presence at the Louisville show. I wasn't going to the show anyway, but I can see Progressive there, trying to sell boat, ATV, and camper insurance. I have to work, but even when I wasn't working weekends, I passed up the chance to go to this one.

I fail to see how a boycott of the show will send the intended message to the promoter except possibly for lower ticket sales at the gate. Seems this may only hurt the little guy in the industry that lives for this show.

Does anyone have contacts at Cabela's? Maybe they can help set up something in a different venue that weekend.

I wont be there. Good on everyone who pulled out.

This is a great show of support and alternative for many exhibitors!

I'll post it when it gets closer. Remember we are still two weeks out, I would not want somebody boycotted just because it took them longer to get their ducks in a row, or didn't annouce early because of legal concerns over possibly getting their money back from the limey bastards at Reed expositions. NOT THAT I WOULD HOLD A GRUDGE EITHER wink
Isn't Reed Enterprizes a British owned outfit?
See Limey bastards in above post

Got it, didn't read entire thread detail.

The last remaining large gun dealer pulled the plug today. S&W, Ruger, Benelli, Franchi and others went with them.

One unmentioned upshot of all of this (intended or not) is that it may well be the end of the largest/oldest outdoors show in the east?

Then again, perhaps that was the intention all along?
I'll link to the latest list of 181 vendors, large and small plus 23 celebrities.

Maybe time for a group of entrepreneurs to start up another show with a pro gun attitude.

Let me take this opportunity to thank everyone who boycotts the Eastern, in spite of whatever financial hardship it causes them. You people are the ones who make a country great, the ones so committed to honor that you'd give up your wealth in it's name. You people are the equals of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, who gave their property, lives and even the lives of their family members in the name of freedom. God bless you.

This group is also setting up a website as a virtual "Show" for all vendors joining in the boycott. They also have a post for Trop Gun Shop in PA. They will have a drawing for folks who buy from the virtual shopping list and provide a copy of the receipt. The winner will get a free AR. See link below for information.

Due to Reed Exhibitions' refusal to reconsider their decision to ban Modern Sporting Rifles from the February 2-10 Eastern Sports Show in Harrisburg, PA, the National Rifle Association has decided to withdraw from the show. We had called on Reed Exhibitions to reconsider their decision; unfortunately they have steadfastly refused to do so. As a result, the NRA will not be participating in the upcoming show in Harrisburg or in any other shows hosted by Reed Exhibitions that maintain this policy. We are disappointed that Reed Exhibitions has ignored the concerns expressed by attendees, the outdoor industry and the NRA in not reconsidering their position to ban the display of Modern Sporting Rifles.
Da linkee to the NRA deal:

i love it when big companies step in [bleep] up to their neck all for being "pc"
Thanks for reporting this. This is excellent, we need a show of solidarity....and i think this is the first of many.
The NRA leaving the show speaks volumes.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I am gonna cut and paste a copy of both lists of folks.... Those that stood together in boycott AND those who didn't...

When I buy products in the future I WILL look at those lists to determine who gets MY money!...
good job. Contacting everyone that pulled and let them know that sportsmen really appreciate what they did.

printing out list and will use any product or services by those who supported the boycott.

Damn straight!!

I'd also like to see every hunting related board post a big fat sticky showing which companies went and which didn't.

Would make a nice quick reference when we're ready to spend our money.
This is most exciting. A little unity goes a long way.
My normal group of 10 guys who go each year, for over 10 years now, has bailed on this year's show.

Because of hotel reservations already paid, some will go only to hit the perimeter places such as Cabelas, etc.

has bailed on this year's show

I hope that repeats itself many times over, and I hope the NRA convention is overwhelmed.
I was looking forward to attending this years show as I have for the past 25 years or so. Not sure I will be attending this year. Thanks to all the vendors that pulled out and are just hurting us the sports enthusiast and consumer. I support your rights to disagree with Reed Exhibitions decision, but once again taking the easy way out. Why not take a stand and protest at the show. Educate the public and inform us of what you are fighting for. I will keep a list of vendors that pull out and be sure to never support you again. Hey you not only are boycotting Reed Exhibiions, but you are also boycotting the consumer. Thanks Again!!!!!

That would be convenient for you wouldn't it?

If you want people to listen you hit them where it hurts and that is the wallet. Handing over the money and protesting at a show that you paid to attend is retarded. This is a matter of principle.

Tories ain't a new thing.
You're really missing the point here, aren't you?

Hi Reed. Nice try.

The point is that I look forward to attending this show with my dad and brother every year. A few other friends as well. It is their right to boycott, but it hurts me as well. Why should I support the people that hurt me? and no I am not Reed. LOL The easy way out is to not show is my point.

My Heart's a Breaking....

$1 dollar bet says this is the latest incarnation of Raisuli.!
When we lived south of Harrisburg, I went there every week or so, and would be sure to haunt any big gun show.

But if I still lived there, no gun show for me! And I'm not even a fan of those nasty, evil ol' black guns! laugh

Kinda half-wish that I still lived there, just so I could stay home instead of spending money, drooling, etc.

Are you really that simple?

The point is, as you put it, that the show organizer was trampling all over the rights of the exhibitors and they chose to make a united stand.

By all means, please go to the show. There'll be plenty of people there to commiserate with, I am sure.

So you support magazine restrictions and an AWB?

Those vendors are loosing out on a hell of a lot of money and business to make a stand and protect YOUR rights.

Make sure and wear your mad bomber hat, Filson red plaid Mac Cruiser, and your LL Bean boots, when you go. You can blend in with all the other Fudds...

Hoping to vote for Obama a third time are ya comrade?
Yeah I am sure all those companies will go bankrupt by not going to the show. Some of the smaller vendors will be hurt by people not showing and supporting their legit business. I feel for those vendors in the end. No I don't support restrictions of any kind. I support the right for someone to protest. It is after all their right. I just think not showing is the easy way out. I understand that they want to make a big point. I am just glad my brother contacted me this morning to let me know and we did not purchase tickets yet.

So those who opt-out really owe it to you to attend?
Comcast just pulled out as one of the major sponsors!!!! Never thought that they would cave! Only progressive is left (no pun intended)!!
You forgot to mention my false teeth. LOL
This is truly remarkable, all these companies taking a stand on principle over money. Maybe there is hope for this country yet.

I am really shocked by that one. Pleasantly so, but still shocked.
Ticket Holders Wanting Refunds ! Please Look Here

There are hundreds of people emailing us and posting on our Face Book page asking what they should do with tickets they already bought for the show.

Unfortunately there is no short answer for a refund. REED Exhibitors has taken the stand that they will not refund any money spent on tickets prior to the show. They are also still selling tickets to unwary show goers, and advertising like crazy all over PA.

Unfortunately there will be no easy way to fight for your money back, and no guarantees you will ever see it again, if you dont go to the show, you are simply out your hard earned money, and REED Exhibitors execs will stand by and thank you for your support.

One option you may have is to contact your credit card company and dispute the charges with them and demand a refund for false advertising on REEDS part. Most credit card companies will remove the charges from your bill and disputed the charge with the Payee (REED Exhibitors)

Another option is to please check with the Firearms Industry Consulting Group, (click the picture for their Face Book page) they may have some more answers for you, and possibly be organizing a class action suit against the REED Exhibitors

Boy howdy grin
Easy way out?

Exhibitors had paid deposits on space long ago; Made reservations for 9 days lodging; In many cases, stocked up on inventory specifically for the show; Made arrangements for show help and materials; And dozens of other expenses and efforts, just for the show.

They are now also out a lot of money and in many cases, it is not refundable money. Then there are any funds they would've generated at the show, now lost.

So which part of that was "easy"?

Your first clue should've been that many early defectors were archery shops and other vendors that don'e even sell firearms, let alone ARs.

An odd concept these days, but some folks still operate on a basis of having principles and standards that rise above money or making someone else feel good.

We now know who several hundred of them are, by their actions in walking away from a two faced weasel like Reed Exhibitions.
I'm curious to know how people make out with CC charge disputes.
Nice next time use spell check.

Yes, easy way out. Easy to not show. What is money to them. They will make it back on the virtual show that is being set up at Mynortheastoutdoors.com and by consumers supporting them. LOL We the counsumer are losing out more. Look at all the people that have purchsed advanced tickets and possibly non refundable room reservations.

I hope the hotels [bleep] you rough when you cancel.

Travis
The "easy" way out would have been for Reed to simply tell the one retailer they claim was offended by modern sporting rifles to take a hike, and apologized for offending gun owners. Instead, they've managed to tick off thousands of gun owners and close to a hundred other retailers by trying to be "politically correct".

I hope the NSSF has the good sense to not use Reed for future SHOT Shows.

I'm betting by the time this is over with, that number will be in the hundreds of thousands, maybe even more!

You suggest the vendors and consumers to just stand around and BITCH about it or take action for what they believe in? Action speaks louder than words. Your post sucks!

I just think not showing is the easy way out. I understand that they want to make a big point. It is not just the big guys boycotting the show, lots of small vendors have pulled out and took a big hit.

Are you going to go bankrupt by not going?

Get a clue.
Sir, it is painfully obvious that you are in some way affiliated with the show, or that you have an economic interest in people attending it. Nobody else would just happen to register a username here and then dive right into this topic the way you have. I'm sorry if you don't agree with the boycott and that it's costing you, but let's not overlook the easy fix: The show doesn't have to proceed with it's ban of certain firearms.

As for your criticism of other people's spelling, let's examine your last post:

Yes, easy way out. Easy to not show. What is money to them. They will make it back on the virtual show that is being set up at Mynortheastoutdoors.com and by consumers supporting them. LOL We the counsumer are losing out more. Look at all the people that have purchsed advanced tickets and possibly non refundable room reservations.

1. Your first sentence should read, "Nice. Next time use spell check."
2. Don't split infinitives: "Easy not to show" is correct, not "Easy to not show."
3. Use a question mark at the end of a question. You should have written: "What is money to them?"
4. Since you capitalized "We" you must have omitted the period after "LOL."
5. It's "consumer," not "counsumer."
6. An "advanced" ticket is a ticket that is either technologically ahead of other tickets or one that performs at a higher level. An "advance" ticket is a ticket sold prior to the show.
7. "Nonrefundable" is one word. If you are going to make it two, at least use a hyphen and say, "non-refundable."

I probably missed some other mistakes, but you get the idea...
grin
No affiliation with the show. I told you that I like just being an A$$ sometimes. Not much going here at work today and I just found out about what was going on with the show. I have attended for the past 25 years and love to go. Always look forward to attending. Funny how some people can't take the heat on these boards. LOL
Nice!!!! Now this is the the comeback comments I like to read.
So you admit that you are gay? LOL

You suggest the vendors and consumers to just stand around and BITCH about it or take action for what they believe in? Action speaks louder than words. Your post sucks!
++1

Why would you boycott vendors standing up for American Gun owners????

I enjoyed going to this show in the past but fully support the vendors that have pulled out, they are giving up their $$$ they pre paid to Reed Exhibitions as well as much needed sales. Many of the vendors are small business folks that work hard for their money.

RobertS13 has to be an Obama voter that thinks every business owner is rich and should support his lazy A$$!

1. You have an extra "the" in your sentence.
2. Your subject and predicate don't agree. It should be, "...these are the comeback comments..."
OK, I am going back to work now.

Have a great day everyone! (You too, RobertS13!) smile
Recieved an e-mail from Wes Good today. He's dropped out also.

"This was a difficult decision, not only because of the substantial financial investment we have made to reserve our booth space, but also because we wont have the opportunity to talk with so many of our customers that we have come to know through the show"

Wrong again. I vote for whomever I believe will do the best for me. I have done very well on the stock market the past year, so I can support myself financially. I told you my sole purpose is to be a pain in the A$$. I love being contriversial(excuse my spelling)
I am waiting for them to open the new Christiana store in 2014. I love that place. I just hope my rights to purchase an assault weapon is still around.
Nope not a woman. Does that dissapoint you Travis?
You guys are keeping me busy with this typing, soooooooooo sorry for all my gramatical errors.
Hey does anyone know if the people who give away the wooden walking stick with beads still be there. If you go to the show you know who I am talking about. I love those Jesus people. LOL

Short term memory loss? I thought you were going to boycott the vendors that canceled?

That is what the kids and I are doing instead. Any gunshops worth visiting between there and the NY border?
Freedom of speech, Freedom of speech, Freedom of speech. You are taking away my First Amendment Rights. LOL

You'd probably blame your boss for paying you if you got mugged. That's how stupid and infantile you are.

This is Ric Bins website and you do not have freedom of speech rights here unless he says so. wink
I will not get mugged because I carry my assault rifle with me at all times. It is my right as US citizen.

Your not very bright are you? Did I say, anywhere, that Ric Bin doesn't believe in the 1st A? That is a question, try answering it for a change and we can go from there. Touche! crazy

On the contrary your problem is failing to grasp that when one excercises their rights, they have to live with the consequences. The consequences of your expression is that you come across as a whiny selfish freeloading bum, and you're being called to task for that. You express your opinions, we express ours.

Freedom isn't free, freedom will never be free, and freedom wasn't paid for by whiny freeloaders. It's sad that anyone in this country would fail to grasp the importance of all those vendors taking the hit on the chin and standing up for what is right, sadder still when someone presumeably interested in shooting sports has no clue.
No, you did not say that Ric Bin does not believe in the 1st A. I was asking you if he does or does not.
Well said.

Apparently RobertS13 is about 14 years old, he registered today just to crash this GOOD thread, I would like RICK BIN to smash him off the board, he's just a young troll
I take that as a YES he believes. Thank You

That action is not planned until after the Second Amendment is dispatched but you can bet it is on the agenda.

That's true. They do have a nice selection of modern semi-auto sporting rifles, though...

Assault rifles are illegal to possess unless you have a Class III FFL license.
Reeds damage control perhaps ?

I've been talking to Mark Bansner about rifles at that show for many years.

I think you've missed the point entirely.

See you've never been there. A wide range of outdoor sports including a very active firearm specific community has been there in the past.

You sir, are only here to derail this legitimate thread and deteriorate it. It is only coincidence that you join today, and all your posts are in one thread? I don't think so....Too much smoke to have no fire there.

Despite your attempts at changing the subject to Freedom of Speech, and other things, such as you "only being here to mess with people", your motives are transparent.

If you ARE with Reed, I would take a lesson from Jim Zumbo, and see how he eventually handled the gaff that might nearly cost him his career.

You see, we all have our opinions....But when you make your living in the firearms and hunting industry in America, the segment you step on will be defended by other segments of the industry. Further, if they are smart, that segement that is offended or thrown to the dogs will be defended by ALL firearm owners and hunters alike.

If we allow the to take "Saturday Night Specials", "Sniper Rifles", "Assault Weapons" or any other catchy liberal media phrase that they tout....How long do you think it will be until all we are left with is shotguns with the only ammo we can purchase being government regulated lead-free birdshot? And they might as well take those because by that time, they CAN!

Go back to Reed and tell them they need to issue a public apology. If they are to retain anything that even resembles the business they had before this gaff, they will make things right not only with the exhibitors that lost money, but the attendees, and the American Hunting/Shooting Industry period.

The Exhibitors and Attendees that boycott this show is only the beginning. NSSF and public opinion will find a company that will stand by their beliefs to put on shows for them from now on if this is not corrected to everyone's satisfaction. There ARE companies out there that CAN put on these shows, and will stand by their fellow Americans. And they will welcome the business that was thrown away by you! cool
I hope when this show is over, someone local to the area can provide us with attendance numbers compared to recent years.

Sorry, Don't know how many were scheduled to attend.
They advertise over 1,200 exhibitors, so this repesents about 20% pulling out so far, with a week to go.

I was glad to see a lot of archery-related companies pulling out - like Bear Archery, Excalibur Crossbows, Easton, Firenock, Hoyt, Kinsey's, Kodabow, Lancaster, Primos, Strother, Summit, Ten Point, and Trijicon. Disappointed to not see Matthews on the list. I may have to stroll over to thei facebook page and see what's up...

I won't be going, first time since it opened. I really need a new pair of custom ear plugs, do any of you guys have his contact info, I believe he is local to the show. Thanks.
I can tell by that list of vendors, it's not a gun show.
Savage Arms pulled out of the show

I was just informed that ESOS stopped online ticket sales so I went to try and buy tickets..

HEHE they were right this is the message I received:

Thank you for visiting. Tickets are no longer available online.

At least innocent Customers will no longer being duped into buying tickets and showing up at an empty hall.

Do you have a point to make or merely a general observation?

Looks like they were not an exhibitor to begin with - but they made a great statement of support for the second amendment.
I believe all of the hunting and shooting related vendors S well as all of the personalities and sponsers other than progressive have pulled out, this leaves the fishing related segment. I also understand that reed has not notified the remaining vendors. The only way they are learning is through word of mouth, check them out and maybe Email the remaining vendors.

You don't like the NRA, you think that no one needs an EBR, you live in New York.

Pretty much a trifecta of dumbass there but given the good folks I know that live in NYS I'll go with just a dumbass on two counts.

yes been here a day. just found out about the ESOS and vendors dropping out. someone asked about how many vendors. believe they have 1200 total. not sure of exact list of drop outs.
LOL. not with REED. I just found this place while looking up info on the Sports Show. This thread is what came up on Google search. I believe in right to bare arms. just pissed that vendors are backing out and yes they have their right and I have mine to voice my opinion as well. Just like to see what type of people I am dealing with when I come onto a new board. Obviously there are some really angry individuals and they can't joke easily. All in good fun my friend. I do believe there should be some restrictions on certain rifles. Why not just allow people to carry anti aircraft weapons around? Do you really need an assault type rifle to hunt? I have a 30-06 and 1187. Holds 5 shells but in DE you need to plug to 3. I am fine with that. I don't need 20 shot clips to obliterate a deer.
Please people,..don't take the bait.

Put this one on Ignore ASAP....
Hey knucklehead,

The ones hurting here are the ones that are willing to sacrifice some income to stand up for what they believe in. They call it principals. You come across as someone who thinks he is entitled and how dare the vendors not show up and spoil your good time. Let's see. You spent $0.00 and are out $0.00 for which you are crying over. Most of the vendors are out thousands of dollars but are willing to lose this money for their beliefs. You need to go somewhere else. It is way too obvious what type of guy you are. Kiss Obama's a$$ somewhere else.

Jim

nice pic TUCO The Good The Bad and The Ugly. I am innocent. That was my evil brother earlier. Sorry
I will not be attending the show. Usually go every year, 4 others and I. None of us will be attending. All five of us have called and e- mailed show management to voice our displeasure.
but what of the Vendors that are not pulling out. They will get hurt as well. Anyway do you think this show will be back next year or for that matter any year. I did love the show. What other shows will be affected

Here's a little lesson for you, d!ckhead:

1. Assault Weapons are currently illegal to own unless you hold a class III Federal Firearms license, which based upon your repeatedly displayed ignorance, you don't possess.
2. The Constitution doesn't protect hunting.
3. The Constitution affirms the unalienable right to BEAR arms - it does not guarantee the right for you to wear your wife beater t-shirt for your BARE arms.
4. The semi-automatic sporting rifle is the most popular rifle for predator/varmint hunting. But that fact is irrelevant because of lesson #2 above.
5. Most states have a magazine limit for hunting, but do not have mag limits for sporting and personal defense weapons. (except maybe the slave states like the one you live in).
6. Lastly, nobody on this forum gives a flying [bleep] how many shots you need to obliterate a deer. However, they care very much about how many rounds they can pour into a few criminals before they take a dirt nap.
7. Every free man "NEEDS" whatever weapon he chooses for the job at hand, whether that is blowing away a perp who just broke in the back door, blowing up tin cans in the forest, or blowing away jack-booted thugs who are coming to confiscate these guns he doesn't need - just like General Gage did.

Any questions?

Since you admit to being a troll, I'm not sure if you are now trolling or if you just don't get it. Beina as you are from Biden-ville, I'm going to go with you being clueless.

Buh-bye.

I just went on thier site....tickets still available on line??/

LC
It appears that ESOS took down their online ticket site, then later put it back up yesterday.

Since they're not telling ticket buyers or even exhibitors, that over 300 exhibitors have pulled out, one might think a fraudulent practices law suit is in ESOS' future?
This just posted on the ESOS website. For anyone interested

Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show - Update - January 24, 2013Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone, for now, the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show given the controversy surrounding its decision to limit the sale or display of modern sporting rifles (also called ARs) at the event. The show was scheduled to take place February 2-10 in Harrisburg, PA.

Our original decision not to include certain products in the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show this year was made in order to preserve the events historical focus on the hunting and fishing traditions enjoyed by American families, said Chet Burchett, Reed Exhibitions President for the Americas. In the current climate, we felt that the presence of MSRs would distract from the theme of hunting and fishing, disrupting the broader experience of our guests. This was intended simply as a product decision, of the type event organizers need to make every day.

It has become very clear to us after speaking with our customers that the event could not be held because the atmosphere of this years show would not be conducive to an event that is designed to provide family enjoyment. It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing.

ESS has long been proud to participate in the preservation and promotion of hunting and fishing traditions, and we hope that as the national debate clarifies, we will have an opportunity to consider rescheduling the event when the time is right to focus on the themes it celebrates.

Looks like they cancelled the whole thing.
Dang newbie beat me to it.
Reap it!
AWESOME!!!
The "postponement"/cancellation sends a big message to those who contemplate how they can infringe on the 2nd Amendment. I'm glad the big players united to oppose the leftists.
The bad. Local business lose out.
