Not a thesis and not mine. Its a definition of a type of argument.
A simple example should suffice.
A person says a car is blue. Another person says, no that car isn't blue because you are an idiot. That is Ad Hominem. To say it in front of an audience is Ad Populum, and to say it to incite others to feel the same way is a fallacy of emotive language, which is the attempt to arouse unreasoned feelings. All of you are doing all three right now.
Unless the car isn't blue. Then it's just a statement of fact.
