always loved the 60 Impala, since 1960... when I was 8 years old... its better looking than a 59 or 61...
Our family had a 61 Impala with a 409 in it... had it for 3 years and then my parents sold it when my dad had orders to go to be stationed in England for 3 years.. He wasn't going to take a gas guzzling 409 to England... In three years tho, it had about 80K on it...

A good car, overall - but those autotrans setups were pretty much a dog. Idea: look for a vaccum leak causing the idle problem before you simply tear into the carb. Fun project - enjoy yourself.
