I was always under the impression that midwest and northeast deer were larger bodied than southern deer as a general rule.

Also, my personal best weight was a 290 lb 8 point that I shot with a (gasp!) 243.....



I'm not familiar with your specific area, but "as a general rule", 230-240 lbs is far from routinely killed in the south.
