Funny the image Homer has, yet they vote R at every election... maybe the locals just like the snowflakes for amusement?
Probably because most people only see Homer in the summer, from Pioneer Ave/Bypass to the Spit. The vast majority of Homer are normal hardworking truck drivers, construction workers, commercial fishermen, etc. The locals mostly avoid the touristy areas.
That could be on the verge of changing however, as in the last 10 years or so, more and more independently wealthy (Californians) are flocking to Homer in retirement.
