Bore size matters but as a general rule I'm in the #2 camp. I've got a 243AI with a #1 contour barrel at 22.5". It balances ok, fairly neutral, but if I was doing it again I'd go with a #2 for slightly more out front. I had a 30-06 with a 24" #2 and the balance was great. Have a rimfire with what looks like a #1 at 21" and the balance is good on it.
260AI currently with Mr. Forbes is going to get a #2.
I have a model 24 280ai that balances perfectly, that's what I'm basing the balance of my model 20 on, but seeing shoe I've never held a model 20 I'm not really sure how it will balance with a #1 in a 6.5 bore.
