I have only had a pistol grip BLR, it felt so good I can't imagine the straight grip feeling any better. Currently without a BLR but I would really love a pistol grip 450 Marlin for bear protection. The 358 would be a really sweet gun so I would go for it. The best thing you could do is handle both and see if you like one style better than the other.
