I've been called lots of stuff and a lot of it is offensive, but you don't hear me whine about it. Most of these terms were descriptive of white southerners of the working class...redneck, white trash, hillbilly, cracker, etc. When I was a lad, most were VERY offensive. Now they have been widened out to cover not just southerners, but country folk from all over the US. People have adopted these as a badge of honor, like "Deplorable". I did live in a trailer for awhile, as a kid...I've been called Oilfield Trash and I'm not proud of it, but it is what it is when your Dad works in the Oil Patch.

Basically, it can be offensive without me taking offense, because taking offense would mean I cared enough to.
