We used to run coyotes with hounds and whatever surplus FMJ ammo we could find were the preferred choice. I used it for calling coyotes too as it did not damage the hides much.
I have a couple ammo cans full which I use for plinking and training where absolute accuracy is not needed. I also use it in the latter situation as I don't mind losing the brass. I hate removing the crimps and some are tight enough they break the decapping pin. That may change some as I can talk my great grandson into doing this operation,
