"Paradise Valley" is the latest by C.J. Box.

It wraps up the series dealing with a psychopathic independent trucker who likes to kidnap, torture and do away with "lizards", the term used for prostitutes who inhabit the truckers' refueling and eating places along the highways. Cassie Dewell, who is working for the North Dakota Bakken County Sheriff's Department has been after this guy for years--several books worth -- and finally has him setup for a trap.

But he's suspicious and makes a few changes in the plan with devastating results. And she's out of a job and pursuing him on her own.

There are multiple other players, of course: runaways, a kidnapped housewife, various sheriff friends and acquaintances as well as the usual politically activated sorts.

It goes across western north Dakota into Montana. A very good read and worth a couple of hours time. About 340 pages.
