I have not read "Badlands" by C.J. Box, nor Paradise Valley that you post about but I did Read "The Highway", by Box which is the first introduction of Cassie Dewell as a central character IIRC. It was excellent and I now look forward to reading Paradise Valley. She is such an unassuming lead that I look forward to the story. Box spins a good tale 8-9 times out of 10 and I like the geography he sets his stories in.
