Ross Seyfried wrote about carrying his 1911 with him when he guided in Africa. He used it as all pistol packers do...for targets of opportunity. He wrote that he shot Impala and such for camp meat,etc. I "think" he used hardball or a hard cast, I don't remember.
I've got that article around here somewhere. He used the old Hornady 230gr Flat Point FMJ.
