To answer your original question, as noted above, with the malfunctioning safety, it is basically a parts rifle. $100 ???

I put a Timney 788 trigger on my LH 581 earlier this year. I think the LH 581 rifles used the same RH safety as the RH 581 rifles. If interested in a LH 581 factory take off trigger ($75 shipped), shoot me a PM. It pulled approx 4 lbs on my rifle before I replaced it.
